I recently answered the survey and had several suggestions – one that I wish I’d added is simply a lock button for tracks so I can keep from accidentally shifting tracks out of sync

Thanks John – well there’s a reason to upgrade

The mp4FastStart did get the files to play within the jwplayer – 🙂 since this will be progressive download – I need to work on getting the file size down to keep it from constantly buffering – For rendering should I use the Sony AVC/MVC (mp4) or the Main Concept AVC/AAC (mp40) before I use mp4faststart?

Thanks everyone for your feedback. I’m trying the mp4faststart app and will test the altered files once I’ve uploaded them to the server. Also I’m going to inquire from Yahoo what kind of bandwidth the server can handle. That might be an important thing to know. If there is no way to render first generation from Vegas – what is the best workaround to get high quality renders for the web that I can put on my website and that will comply with html5 standards for video files? Can I do it through After Effects? My goal right now is to have some videos that look good and are exclusively found on my site
I did find that If i downloaded the file from vimeo.com – which they encoded – and then placed it on my server it worked fine.

Is there a bitrate calculator somewhere out there useful when using this setting? say for example if I want to put a video on vimeo but keep the file size under 500MB?

FYI report – did my latest project in Vegas 9 – in HD – no crashes or problems at all. 🙂

Have not added any codecs – my camera shoots HDV footage – although lately I’ve been shooting SD widescreen instead of Hi-Def since its going to end upon a standard DVD. I actually do a lot of work with jpegs and stills but not lately.
I know I need to upgrade my computer – currently I’m working with Windows 7, Intel Core2Quad Q660 @2.4GHz, 4GB ram. Nvidia Quadro FX1500
I have not yet installed SP1 -(maybe I should) – As far as old projects I have no idea since I’ve been busy with new ones. Usually it crashes when I try to manually move the cursor during playback without pausing or stopping first.Maybe this is a bad habit I should never have developed but I never had these sorts of problem in previous versions and it takes awhile to create new habits.
I am finding if I save often, work slower and pause or stop the project before moving the cursor I don’t have as many problems – but working slower is the opposite of what I would like:)

I do have several external drives so that could be part of the problem and I may also need to slow down a little. (one of the things I’ve always loved about Vegas is its speed – I’ve worked alongside FCP editors and they always say “how’d you do that so fast?”)I’m still working on a 32 bit operating system as well. I’m looking forward to building a new 64 bit computer system with lots of memory and internal drives
