Web Rendering Question
Posted by Christopher Key on February 17, 2012 at 9:15 pmI am having trouble viewing files I rendered in Vegas 10 with the
Sony AVC/MVC – (*.mp4, m2ts,.avc)
internet 1280×720-30p preset setting -(Use this setting to create a higher quality 16:9 file suitable for uploading to Internet sites.
Audio: 128 Kbps, 48,000 Hz, 32 Bit, Stereo, AAC
Video: 29.970 fps, 1280×720 Progressive, YUV, 8 Mbps)which works fine when uploading to vimeo.com but isn’t working on my own website when using the jwplayer. I’m just wondering if this setting is H.264 compliant? If not any recommendations on what setting I should be using?
Thanks in advance

format for the web or online destination.
Maybe its got something to do with jwplayer
format limitations thats causing that problem.Steve Rhoden

February 18, 2012 at 3:24 amIs your server up to a continuous 8Mbps? Is your internet connection to your ISP capable of a continuous 8Mbps?
Video from a streaming server service like Vimeo and Youtube use a dynamic bitrate to adjust to the viewer’s capabilities.

The Sony AVC codec does not produce video that streams properly. You may need to use a utility like MP4 FastStart to make the files stream.

February 19, 2012 at 7:50 pmThanks everyone for your feedback. I’m trying the mp4faststart app and will test the altered files once I’ve uploaded them to the server. Also I’m going to inquire from Yahoo what kind of bandwidth the server can handle. That might be an important thing to know. If there is no way to render first generation from Vegas – what is the best workaround to get high quality renders for the web that I can put on my website and that will comply with html5 standards for video files? Can I do it through After Effects? My goal right now is to have some videos that look good and are exclusively found on my site
I did find that If i downloaded the file from vimeo.com – which they encoded – and then placed it on my server it worked fine.

February 20, 2012 at 2:54 amThe mp4FastStart did get the files to play within the jwplayer – 🙂 since this will be progressive download – I need to work on getting the file size down to keep it from constantly buffering – For rendering should I use the Sony AVC/MVC (mp4) or the Main Concept AVC/AAC (mp40) before I use mp4faststart?

For Vegas Pro 10.0 you should use the Sony AVC encoder and then use MP4 FastStart.

You should be using Vegas Pro 11.0 with the MainConcept AVC encoder using the [x] Enable progressive download option. If you continue to the Vegas Pro 10.0 then it will continue to be a two step process where you render to Sony AVC and then use MP4 FastStart.
