Whoa, you are correct. I was looking at the HD tab instead of SD.
I really like what Apple offers as far as editing, but I wish it had the workflow of Avid. Being able to create your DVD inside of the same program you edit in without having to export is a tremendous time saver.
What do you suggest for SD DVD? I currently have two pass VBR, 5mbps bit-rate, and 7mbps max bit-rate.
No wonder I wasnt seeing a difference in my encoded video size…

Thanks for the help, but that was not the issue. I did try that, however, I knew something was not correct because I watched it on a DVD and it was still choppy.
I exported my sequences to XML, uninstalled FCP, and then reinstalled. Something went wrong with my system when I updated, so Im just using 6.0 until I find out what the problem is.
Does anyone know if Avid is coming out for Mac?

That did not work either. I tried reinstalling and not updating FCP, and it seemed to work normally on export, however I cant open a project file because it was for 6.0.5. Is there a way to convert the project file so I can open it with 6.0?

I didnt realize how small that was going to be, Ill post a much larger comparison.

George,
I have tried those steps, much to no avail.
Still the same low resolution video.

Thats correct Tom, everything is peachy up until I view my exported sequence. I can tell right away without even having to burn a DVD that it is not full quality.

Im on the same page as you Dave, and I greatly appreciate your help!
My settings are correct, the resolutions both match as well as the rest of the settings. The problem is definitely occurring in the export process. It seems as though there are no differences between any of the export codecs. I am going to trash my pref’s, but this is my third or so time doing it.
Just so there isnt any confusion, would the default FCP pref’s be what I want?
There is nothing more annoying to me than knowing where I am being bottlenecked and not knowing what to do to fix it.

Im watching it on my iMac through Quicktime and yes, I made sure the settings were selected for highest quality. I know I should be using an external monitor, but my screen usually gives me a pretty close image to what it is supposed to look like. And as crappy as the video looks, Im pretty sure watching it through a monitor isnt going to make it any better.
I dont know if you saw that I said this started happening after I updated. Hopefully when I reinstall, everything will go back to normal.

Alright, I just tried exporting a self contained version and I also tried it without. They both are having the same problem. I also tried bringing in a title from photoshop as a psd. Same problem.
Would reinstalling help out at all?
