Cool. Thanks. I’ll try that, too.

Hey, here’s another question: Let’s say I want to do the opposite; create titles in After FX, without having video from AVID. What’s the best way to export titles with alpha channels so that I can cleanly, simply key them in AVID?

(I’ve already tried a few tests, rendering titles as Quicktime animations, RGB + alpha, but the titles look crappy. I’ve seen better and I’m wondering how to get there.)

Thanks again for any and all help.

Actually, I mis-wrote… What I really would like to do is export AVID video and composite just titles over that video in After FX. Then, re-import back into AVID. The AVID title tool has always been pretty weak.

    Hey thanks.

And yes, I am exporting individual files. Can I use Quicktime Reference files even if I’m using a different PC for After FX compositing? In other words, I have to physically transport files from my work Avid to my home PC to work in After FX.

Hmm. Well, I have been importing the mp3’s directly in AVID. I could use Sound Forge to import. Would you happen to know if that program will allow me to import audio at varible levels? I’ll check into it. Thanks.

Thanks for the tips, my friend. I think the “mixed results” that I’ve been getting are coming from mixing some AVX FX with Boris 5.0 (the current version installed). I will keep plugging away and see how things go.

You know what…I have been trying it. With mixed results. The logos look a little better, but there are still some issues. Thanks for the suggestion though. I’m pushing now for an AVID upgrade.

Yeah, I’ll be honest…We’re not even on the 1:1 compression playing field. Not to mention DV25, which we don’t even use. Unfortunately, I’m forced into a situation where I have to make the crappy equipment that I have now, look as broadcast quality as I possibly can…

Anyhow, thanks for all the replies. If there are any other suggestions, I’m certainly open to them all.

Hmm, well I would love to upgrade…shoot, it’d be my dream. However, I’m trapped right now in a company with a scrimp-tight budget that’s not budging for any kind of upgrade right now.

That being said, is there anyway to improve the look of the logos with what I’m working with now???

    Please help.
