  • I know I am digging up a grave here by replying to this post, but I wanted to finally put this problem to rest for anyone who may stumble upon it. The problem was that my files do not have constant frame rates. Rendering settings are not the problem. I have learned about transcoding and why it is important to use with VEGAS products. If you have a problem similar to mine you must transcode your files into a constant frame rate container. There are many programs designed to do this, two of which are Handbrake and FFmpeg. Here are a couple of resources that may be of use to you (they helped me finally fix my problem):

    https://www.reddit.com/r/letsplay/comments/3mh2hj/60fps_video_choppy_after_rendering/ (follow agentc0re’s advice)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qUSaTCaN6lY (EposVox uses FFmpeg to transcode his files. You must have that installed for this to work. Note that FFmpeg outputs a truly lossless converted file that will be bigger than Handbrake’s in most cases)

Finally, after years of having this problem when making videos in my spare time, here is the transcoded file of the test project I used above post-render. It’s flawless. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bqgH-d9n0Ag

As you can see, it says the FPS is set to 60. I’ve also noticed that this information says that the frame rate is set to variable, which is confusing as I have CFR (constant frame rate) enabled in OBS.

After seeing this, I tried using a different recording software (Bandicam) with CFR enabled, and Movie Studio wouldn’t even let me import the file (when I change it to variable frame rate, it will import no problem). Am I troubleshooting in the correct direction here?

    Thanks,
    Christopher

  • Hello,

I changed the project and render settings to 60.000FPS for this test project we’re working with here like you suggested and it seems identical to 59.940FPS:
    https://youtu.be/tXfFU_FOn4w

Also, I know it’s not a problem with YouTube as it looks the same when viewing it through any media player on my PC. Is there anything else that stands out to you about these render settings that could be causing issues? It’s strange because the preview displays the project in 60FPS perfectly fine.

    Thanks,
    Christopher
