I spoke with Resolve support. The step by step procedure listed in the manual is not correct. The code for Resolve changed but the manual did not.

Thanks, but you didn’t understand my question. I know where file>export AAF is — the manual states there is another option file>save AAF that handles the AAF differently. That is the one tha either doesn’t exist or I can’t find. Please refer to the manual page that I put in my post for further explanation.

Isn’t anybody else getting tired of Apple yanking the professional’s chain?

To think that FCPX and a laptop is all the “PRO” would ever need is just a fundamental misunderstanding of what many pros need. How am I going to get 48GB of ram, and 16 cores in a laptop?

Don’t worry, all you have to do is ask Siri to do all your editing, compositing and effects and the iPhone pops it right out.

Thank you for commenting on this and providing some additional insight. It makes me think that perhaps I’m not suggesting something ridiculous after all by requesting BMD add a little line (that I can choose to ignore or not) as an option.

Thanks to both of you. We’re in a somewhat painful transition from FCP back to Avid. It’s changed A LOT since the last time I used it so it’s like starting all over. FCP never worked as advertised either, but it’s the devil we know.

Right now, the most painful issue for me is getting avid playing nice with other apps like Resolve, AE, etc. FCPs use of quicktime (rather than mxf) makes that more straightforward, but it also doesn’t manage media as well as Avid either.
