    Hi Adam,

Thanks for your reply. No matter what light type I use I still get the same results but only on objects that in Hyper Nurbs and also using the metaball.

Below is an image taken where you can see the difference. The sphere on the left is a parametric object that hasn’t been changed to a polygonal object (before it’s ‘made editable’) and the object on the right is an object in a Hypernurbs object. I’ve added a compositing tag on to the object on the right to try and smooth out the shadow by setting the anti-aliasing up to Best (Min 1×1, Max 4×4).

The reason I’m using this workflow is I’m trying to get the perfect “flat” look for a current project. Here’s an example of the style I’ve done using parametric objects https://vimeo.com/74154760 password: sell

The huge problem is the animation is going to have characters etc that will be using hypernurbs and right now that’s just not possible with such awful pixelation on the shadows.

Also one last thing. I noticed that when I switch to the Flash player on Vimeo instead of the HTML5 version the colours look perfect, no matter what browser I’m in!

You’re right, it looks fine on IE although I must admit I’d never touch that browser with a barge pole. Saying that I reckon alot of my clients and their users will be using it. I have been using Chrome for all my screengrabs so that’s not looking great. Here’s a comparison between IE and Chrome.

The main thing is I know it’s not the way I’m encoding things, so thank you for your patience and time and effort to establish this 😀

I just did and it looks fine but I don’t understand why there are issues on Vimeo? I’ve never had it before.

I’m sorry but that isn’t possible. I have attached a comparison of the colours from the Vimeo link I sent and the .MOV file with the Animation codec. The colours are completely different. It looks exactly the same on my iMac at work and my Macbook Pro.

“why would it look as washed out in Vimeo if it plays fine in Windows Media Player?” That’s what I just put in my last post with the 3 examples.

What I’m saying is I know Quicktime can look washed out with h.264 files but if it’s fine in WMP why does it look crap when it’s on Vimeo?

Sorry my original comment said the bottom image was in Vimeo but my last comment stated the bottom image was WMP. I’ll label the images in the future.

Also, just to put the cat amongst the pigeons, here are some more comparisons. The top left one is the Animation codec after the export from AE. The top right one is the transcoded file from Premiere (h.264 Quicktime codec) and the bottom one is EXACTLY the same file as the top right one but in Windows Media Player. Now I know there are issues with graphics looking washed out when you play h.264 in Quicktime but why would it look as washed out in Vimeo if it plays fine in Windows Media Player?

The top image is from Premiere and the bottom is in Vimeo. I’ve compared the Premiere screenshot to the Animation exports from After Effects and the colours are almost identical. I know I could have used the Dynamic Link functionality but I was too busy getting to grips with Windows and I had a few issues with Dynamic Link. I’ve been using it since though 80% of the time.
