Marco,
My guess is about 30% faster, but you will love it for the mpeg4s. Unbelievable. And I believe it has cropping, you apply a preset, then control click on it and go down to edit job, and you have access to everything.

It has NOTHING to do do with the stuff you buy. Nothing. To believe software will make you a better editor is silly.”
It’s rare indeed I find a comment from you which I would contest. While this is inherently true, depending on your needs, but software and hardware make a huge impact on what you are able to accomplish for your clients. That’s exactly the premise upon which all the manufacturers market their products, same reasoning you would buy one bicycle over another.
Will it make you a better editor? No, only practice and commitment can do that. Could it impact how long it would take you to get there? Absolutely.

A LITTLE slow? Ahem, try an eternity. Very handy tool, yes, and I have a lot of clients like Marco who are on PCs. But I’ll tell you what, Compression Master3 is much faster, pllus it does beautiful mpeg4s as well. Well worth the price.

Dan,
All anamorphic footage is 4×3, the distortion is what makes it work. I do what you are trying to do all the time. Ed is correct, you edit in a 16×9 sequence and when done, drag that sequence into a new 4×3 sequence and you’re done. Sometimes FCP needs a little help, when you drag your footage into a 16×9 timeline, you need to open it in the viewer and change the distort tab o to zero, and it will fill the frame.
This article is teriffic.

Dunno, this looks like all the documentation you’d need for such a simple app.

Paul,
Set your canvas and viewer to “fit to window” and make sure they don’t overlap the timeline.

Regarding LaCie,
As Joachim said, they seem to go through cycles. I have 5 or six of their drives, one is a 5 year old 30 gig, seem to be all rock solid. On the other hand, last fall I bought a 500 gig Big Disk Extreme and it died in 2 weeks. And I had a 60 gig and a 120 gig FireWire 400 drives die on me at a place I used to work.
If you want a rock-solid FireWire 800 RAID, I highly recommend the two drive FireMax enclosures from Promax, you cannot get more reliable support from anyone.

No app is a bicycle. I used Quark for 13 years, and after a two year layoff I forgot nearly all my shortcuts.

I did the updates described above and still it won’t work.
Have a wonderful day.

Hey David,
You’re just like me then, huntin’ and pickin’ and not watching the screen when the ads come up! thanks for the update tips.
Have a wonderful day.
