Check out Trapcode Form.

It creates more of that Ribbon effect, not just streaks. I don’t have it yet and I think it will take some time to learn, but Trapcode provides good tutorials to jump start you. Ron has a good point though. Watch Andrew’s tutorial on the Nano streaks. The technique might work well using other tools!

Thanks for all the brilliant ideas, inspiration, guidance, insight, work-arounds and under the hood technical genius that you have shared. How you have gotten as fluent in AE as well as computer knowlege is a mystery, but your talent is not. I’ll keep tabs on you at AllBetsAreOff and hope to even work with you one day.
Enjoy your family & life!

Not missing anything. I’ve checked here, with AE enhancers, and even with a couple of Industry/AE gurus. It’s not currently possible.
A friend of mine knows one of Adobe’s upper echelon. He’s supposed to get me in touch with an Adobe software engineer (I think that’s what he called it). If this happens, hopefully we can make some progress there.

Ahhhhhh! I found opacity masks in Adobe help! That’s a good start. If there’s any other wisdom out there, I’d still be glad to hear it.

Shoot 30fps (29.97 not 24 or 30p). Use lots of ceiling mounted or high angle, diffused light on all sides (flat lighting), keep a wide depth of field so everything’s in focus.
Make a very colorful set, but desaturate it a bit in post. Get a good hair stylist to do really bad hair, a turtle neck sweater might help!
Actually finding an old tube camera would really do it!Good luck on doing bad well!

Hello! One more GREAT tutorial that looks perfect for your situation.

My other thought is that Although they “shot” DVC Pro HD. Somehow the footage you got isn’t full res. In other words, did you capture the footage from the tape? I suspect it may have been captured using something like a composite cable instead of SDI. It sounds like your color information is lacking.
…or, it’s just REAL grainy. Then, shame on them!
Check out the 2 tuts I sent. They will help any key look a lot better!

OH yeah! While I’m researching, play with Autotrace under the layer menu. Check the box that says “Apply to New Layer”. Try tracing the different channels with different tolerences. You may get pretty close!
Also check out this tutorial by Aharon Rabinowitz:

This will GREATLY reduce the amount of green you have to deal with which can help your edges.

“they can’t shoot it all again!!!!!!!! :-)”
Actually, I wasn’t going to say that! I’ve learned better;-)
Let me review the Sin City tut to see what Grant did to the footage, from there, we’ll devise the plan! I don’t know if you can post a still or short clip of the footage at full res. That may save time, I won’t recommend things that don’t work!

By Sin City Effect, are you referring to the Grant Swanson Tutorial? Or is this some plug-in that I don’t know?
What format did you shoot the green screen on? It sounds like DV or HDV or worse.
