Actually, a number of drivers for Express cards had to be updated to function with Thunderbolt Express card readers because of incompatibilities with Thunderbolt. And, many were not updated, never will be, and will never be compatible. Some bus powered Firewire devices also need driver alterations to function in bus-powered mode under Tbolt’s more limited bus power, and, many will never be able to be bus powered on the first iteration of Tbolt. So, there are numerous driver issues related to TBolt that don’t involve “TBOLT DRIVERS.”

No, you are right. And its a fair question. Ignore the ill-informed disdainful noise. Most of the driver issues that I’m aware of have been with drivers for Express cards that people were trying to use with Thunderbolt Express card adapters. The firewire issues that I’m aware of are power related, in that the Tbolt bus does not offer enough power to power a number of bus-powered firewire devices. If you operate the device with external power, this won’t be a problem.

Its not a big deal. Its a very fair request to make. And, its certainly a fair and interesting point for discussion here on this board. Any rudeness or anger you are experiencing has nothing to do with you or your questions.

I’m in the same boat. ProRes, both in and out, are a mandatory part of my chain, so I’m staying in Mac land, though I’ve been sorely tempted to go elsewhere.
