When he was showing audio collisions, he was demonstrating several complicated FCP7 processes (with multiple clicks) to make it clear that X was easier, and all he needed to do was make one simple trim on his music track to make the edit easier than his X edit. On purpose? I have no idea. But if I’d been sitting in his class, I sure would have called him on it.

I don’t quite get what you are saying. It was a nice article, very favorable to PPro, but with some honest quibbles. After reading it, I’m probably MORE likely to spend time with PPro. The article also rejects FCP X outright. I do not understand why you cite this article to support the statements you make in your post. I think most people reading the article and finding it persuasive, would come to the exact opposite conclusion from what you have stated.

I think FCP X simply likes the audio that you want to cut out, and is simply initiating new FCP X command: Editor override.
