Well, as someone who was roundly and persistently trashed for SHOUTING and generally being alarmist so many times, perhaps It’s just a minor sore point to me.
“Bill, I don’t think you’ve ever been trashed for warning people that there might be something potentially dangerous about files they might otherwise download. I think most people agree that shouting is appropriate when there is potential imminent danger.

I’ve got a GTX 285 in my 8 Core, so that should be worth something. I won’t install till I get the full Suite, so I can’t really test it out. But, I’m looking forward to it. I’ve upgraded from CS5, so I haven’t really seen Mercury at its best, yet. I’m also looking forward to trying Media Composer/Symphony on the same machine. So far, I’ve just been using it on my laptop. I suppose I can always upgrade the 285 to a 4000, and double the RAM in my 8 Core, if I’m really smitten.

I go back and forth a lot. I liked my years in the Wintel world and was pretty much forced to MacVille, but now that I’m here…

I’m not sure I’d switch as much as add. Maybe get a PC and put Media Composer/Symphony on it. Then try CS6 via Cloud, and just see if I like it there. Of course, for me that’s a big investment just to test the waters, so I’d need to be a lot closer to certain than I am now.

I agree. There’s nothing to face. X has its superior features in a number of areas. It just ain’t that kind of a contest.

It’s funny! I remember Vegas before it was an NLE, back when it was a multitrack DAW. It had just gotten its video capabilities when I bought it. It was quite impressive. I used it mostly as a DAW, but I when did cut video with it I was blown away by how freeform and limber it was. I couldn’t use it for my work because, at that point, it had no support for “broadcast” video cards. It was cool, though. And, from what I’ve heard, it has matured really well. Sonic Foundry was a terrific company, and I wish Sony had done a little more to promote their products. If I end up getting a PC workstation this year, one of my joys will be installing upgraded copies of Sound Forge and Acid. I bet I put Vegas on there, too.

“I second that! My preference is that if you legitimately think there might be a major SNAFU hanging about just offstage, I would rather you shout it out. We can quickly figure out if you are wrong, or there is any easy fix. Frankly, I don’t see it as being panicky or alarmist. I think of it as being kindly and prudent.
