I just had this problem myself. When you import the photoshop file deselect ‘Photoshop Sequence’. I’m not entirely sure what the point of this button is other than just to crop the whole composition to one frame, which in AE is pretty useless. Once this is deselected the compostion length will be imported as whatever you have set in the preferences of AE for importing still images.
