    Hi Ian,

Yes and no. Jan Crittenden got in touch with me offline and was very helpful – the long and short is that the 370’s do not support this functionality.

If you’re looking for an RC-10, I’ve got a barely used one that’s not been touched in 2 years!!

    Take care,
    Chris

    Hi Steve,

Thanks for your response. I’m curious as to if you have an RC10, or possibly misunderstood my question as your suggestions do not make any sense to me, and the section of the manual that you have pasted does not seem appropriate to the issue at hand.

On the RC10, there is no way to “press the AWB so that the display is off”. The AWB button is not lit unless it is pressed (akin to flicking the switch on the camera) and there is no display for it on the RC10 – the display next to it is for gain. The PRE/A/B display cannot be turned off at least according to the manual – it simply cycles through these three options. The section of the manual, which I have read, is on how to do an WB, which I think I can do 😉

As stated in my original post, I’m trying to dial in a specific white balance setting with the RC10 as implied on page E-26 of the manual:

    6 – COLR- TEMP-PRE – 2300k : 8000k – To set the color temperature in the AWB PRE
    and
7 – TEMP-A – 2300k : 8000k – To set the position of the WHITE BAL switch and the color temperature in case of Ach. The step varies with the camera conditions.

I really am at a loss as the manual suggest that I am in the correct place, just that the dials do not change the values. Dialing in a WB setting is to me one of the basic functions of a remote/CCU, so I’m sure it must be very straightforward and I’m totally missing something.

    Thanks in advance.

    Chris

    Hi Hersh,

sorry for the delay in responding – In Haiti at the moment. Yes, I would be very interested in that as a short term solution. Thanks for your response.

    Warm regards,
    Chris

    Hi Bob,

    long time 😉

I fully understand the issues in relation to price points and also the tool that fits the job (our ultrascope does exactly what we want and we have both that and the videohub software on touch screens in our OB van and they work really well).

The issue on this for me is we’re talking something that should be fairly easy to implement – there is no new control interface, just simply multiple actions from one action, or as had been suggested in an earlier post that you had responded to on the same subject, presets or defaults that could be recalled. The application I’m looking for is actually very simple – I want to be able to change the content that is being iso recorded for slow motion replays based on where the action on the field is for sporting events, but I’m sure I could quickly find other uses.

I too am a BMD fan – I remember meeting Grant many, many years ago and just liked what the company was doing and the way they were going about things and since Ted left AJA, we’ve bought BMD wherever they had a product that filled the need, and I’ve been happy to recommend them around the region.

Grant, if you’re out there, I gathered from your support team that this was a fairly requested feature, and I know you don’t like to do things half way, but even a simple implementation would be better than none! Oh, and I need it by the beginning of October 😉

    Take care,
    Chris

    Hi Derrick et al,

this is now a few months on and I was wondering if you had indeed purchased the ultrascope and if so, could confirm what happens on a 1080 monitor. I’m looking at what would be a great monitor for both the Ultrascope and the pushbutton views for the videohub (HP, touchscreen, as it would save the keyboard/mouse space in a portable system) and would really love to know what the interface for both would look like on a 1080 screen.

    Thanks & take care,
    Chris

    Matte,

thanks for a slightly more intelligent response than the first!
