Yeah they do work as is, by moving the XDROOT over you get rid of all the extra little JPegs all the extra weird audio files etc, you just have all the clips in numerical order, as stated they do import with audio but one strange thing I noticed is that I recorded, ingested went back to record another clip and imported again, it was strange is it didn’t recognize the second file. Now again this is just testing and did this without moving the files to the same level as the private folder. I’m waiting for a response from Ian to see if they have anything to say at Sony?.

The variants you mention it just looks messy with all the extra files in the folder and could become confusing if having to CTL click individual files, just my preference to move across the XDROOT, be interested to hear if anyone else has tried it

Just tried it Craig and no difference, but dragged the folder over again and then worked fine via the card reader…..

Im only speaking from what I’ve done and seen already which was record 5 clips about 30 seconds each and moved the XDROOT folder over in line I then file imported which I quoted took a matter of seconds just as the C300 MXF EX3 BPAV’s and GoPro MPEG’s and you’re right it should work just like any other import and I’d be a lot happier if I didn’t have to do that!! maybe Ian can shed a bit of light on this?? The card had been formatted in the camera and I also reformatted it completey using the SD formatter via their site and still didn’t happen so went with moving over the XDROOT folder which works completely. Now I’m not sure what harm this would do as everything required is still contained in the XDROOT folder, the only difference is as mentioned if recording you have to switch it back over to the Private folder, that is where you could come unstuck but you have to be on it so not to let that happen. again if rather that not be the case and I didn’t have to switch folders. What’s other variants have you seen Craig? And Ian are you aware this is still the case? Has anyone else actually imported and got everything in place without moving over the folders???? Regarding the a matter of seconds I am using a fast MacBook Pro so does help older machine could well be slower. The import was instantaneous.

This work around isn’t really a work around as such, it’s just a matter over dragging over the root folder on the SD card in finder, it takes a matter of seconds, then once you open FCPX it’s all there. I guess I’ve only tried this with shooting a few clips so a days filming may take a few moments longer to drag and drop, the camera is great and love it, more so than the C300 I owned and I’m completely happy at the mo for this to be almost the next best thing to native import. Granted it’s still not quite there but a huge improvement to having to transcode everything. Let me know if you want to ask anything else Grant. I guess FCPX may need an update to complete the puzzle??

Not sure if anyone else has had to do this but I can finally pull in the XAVC Long Clips natively into FCPX. I’ve tried and tested, only thing is its not 100% correct but all you have to do on the sdxc card in the finder is move the XDROOT folder into the same root level folder where you see Private and its finally able to read all clips at XAVC Long without any nasty Jpegs or separate audio clips etc Hallelujah !! You have to also update the firmware on the X70 to version 2.0 and run the latest FCPX 10.2.1

One thing to be mindful about that I’ve just figured out is that if you move the XDROOT folder over be and you want to lets say import a few clips and still use the card to go back out and shoot, in the finder menu just drag the XDRoot folder back into private to keep the clips recording in the one XDRoot folder other wise you’ll end up with several XDROOT folders as the camera doesn’t record into the artificially placed folder in the private level. (think that makes sense?!!) any questions feel free to ask.

Thanks Ian, so will that be a firmware update for the camera? Or will it just be something that works when it’s been tinkered at your end?

Hi Ian, any news on this? Been doing a bit of research and changing file names at root level, If i moved the XDROOT folder to root level it acttually showed my SDXC card as and sxs card so even tried the good old BPAV route to see if i could trick the old computer system. Do you have any info as to why this may be not working? I know its working on the FS7 but not the SDXC cards. Any kind of information would be hugely appreciated
