this is true, tried and tested, only thing is its not 100% correct but all you have to do on the sdxc card is move the XDROOT folder into the same root level folder where you see private and its finally able to read all clips at XAVC Long Hallelujah !!

I’m seeing a scant few reports ranging from it works to same problem as before. Yours is yet another variant.

Have you tried this variant Craig?

Don’t have the camera at this point. The workflow, to date, is too convoluted for fast turnaround work.

This work around isn’t really a work around as such, it’s just a matter over dragging over the root folder on the SD card in finder, it takes a matter of seconds, then once you open FCPX it’s all there. I guess I’ve only tried this with shooting a few clips so a days filming may take a few moments longer to drag and drop, the camera is great and love it, more so than the C300 I owned and I’m completely happy at the mo for this to be almost the next best thing to native import. Granted it’s still not quite there but a huge improvement to having to transcode everything. Let me know if you want to ask anything else Grant. I guess FCPX may need an update to complete the puzzle??

[Chris Church] “it takes a matter of seconds”

    User intervention creates risk.
Import should work like any other supported camera.

Some people aren’t having the issue. Apparently others are still having import problems. I wouldn’t want to take the professional risk.

Perhaps you need to format the card in camera after firmware update. Perhaps all clips need to be the same setting. I don’t think Sony has provided those instructions.

People are reporting varying degrees of success and failure so there’s a variable that hasn’t been determined yet.

I’m now hearing a couple of reports that the issue is trying to import from the camera directly.
FCPX understands the directory coming from a card reader but has problems if you try to import from the card in the camera.

Im only speaking from what I’ve done and seen already which was record 5 clips about 30 seconds each and moved the XDROOT folder over in line I then file imported which I quoted took a matter of seconds just as the C300 MXF EX3 BPAV’s and GoPro MPEG’s and you’re right it should work just like any other import and I’d be a lot happier if I didn’t have to do that!! maybe Ian can shed a bit of light on this?? The card had been formatted in the camera and I also reformatted it completey using the SD formatter via their site and still didn’t happen so went with moving over the XDROOT folder which works completely. Now I’m not sure what harm this would do as everything required is still contained in the XDROOT folder, the only difference is as mentioned if recording you have to switch it back over to the Private folder, that is where you could come unstuck but you have to be on it so not to let that happen. again if rather that not be the case and I didn’t have to switch folders. What’s other variants have you seen Craig? And Ian are you aware this is still the case? Has anyone else actually imported and got everything in place without moving over the folders???? Regarding the a matter of seconds I am using a fast MacBook Pro so does help older machine could well be slower. The import was instantaneous.

Are you importing from Camera, Card Reader, Hard Drive (which involves copying of course)?
