——- theres probably a few ways of doing this but what I would try for myself first is to make sure the image is scanned at a high enough resolution so that it does not pixelate – you can work this out by taking the comp size and multiplying it by the percentage difference between start and end frames — ie if you are zooming out so that the end frame is half the width of the start frame then the a/w needs scanning at twice the comp resolution ( etc )

You shouldnt have any problem with the type I think as long as you have the little box checked that asks AE to re-calculate vectors at every frame to keep them sharp – not at the machine ATM but its in the list near to the motion blur button – just to the left I think.

BTW same applies if you convert your drawing to a vector — you need to make sure this wee button is checked….

It should be too much of a problem to sort …good luck

1 ) firstly make sure the composition setting is the correct length ….. though I dint think this is the problem ….

2 ) … next sort tyhe problem which is that the tiff file is only 1 frame long so it does not animate….

— to change this the layer needs needs ‘time re-mapping’ to the correct length –

– am fairly new myself and not at the box atm so will have to be a bit vague as to where you find it — try right click on layer and look for ‘time’ in the list then select select time / time remapping ??? ….

…. anyway something like that and you will be away I think ….

— could be an easy one depending on what you are shooting — if you have 2 well defined points in the background such as a telegraph pole or a billboard its worth tracking the ‘footage’ to do a 2 point ‘stabilse’ which would have a fair chance of success I think …

— if youre not sure how to do this its worth checking out the Video Co-pilot website ( videocopilot.net ) who have a good tutorial on tracking or of course worth Checking Andrew Devis on this site though dont remember him covering the subject ……

Hi there — this can be done easily – will try and remember – am a bit new to this stuff myself and am not on the kit at the moment so — from memory here goes — its something like ….. drag a box over all the keyframes to select / press the alt key down and hold down / click on any of the keyframes at the end of the current timeline and slide out to new desired length — you should find all the other keyframes slide out proportionally which hopefully gives what you want

—– sounds like your project cannot find the source images and is showing you colour bars.

– fairly new to AE myself but pretty sure the answer is as follows and this is certainly how I fixed it myself….

I reckon that when you load a project AE looks for the source material where it was LOCATED when the project was first built.

If the image isnt there it shows you colour bars.

… when this problem occured on a comp I was working on I tried re-importing source material and replacing dicky looking layers but without much luck ( dont know why this didnt work – thought it would ) HOWEVER I then realised the PSD file I used in the build was not on the desktop anymore …

…. when I replaced PSD on desktop ( where it was when I built project ) everything was ok again…

If you are seeing colour bars my guess is this is the problem….

— Hi there — hard to tell without seeing the job but suggest something like this ………

1 ) — take a good close up shot of plate on straight wall to make sure texture etc matches

2 ) change lettering in photoshop

3 ) insert as a 3d layer into AE and bend in 3D space to match curve on wall ( do not know how to do this myself but there will be a way – mostly I use Flint )

4 ) track plate to movement in shot or stabilise shot if static shot is preferred

5 ) colour correct as required to match shot / lighting using animated matte if recessary.

6 ) add grain if required to match shot

7 ) burr if required to match shot

8 ) soften matte edges as required so that plate does not look stuck on

9 ) add shdow to match that observed on shot in part 1 ( to match lighting on curved wall — et voila — job done….

— thats my tuppence worth — probably not too difficult though mihht need a wee bit of care to make sure its seemless.
