    — also best do FX before footage is graded —chris—

  • Hi –

    – theres a few ways of doing this i think…

…… easiest to me seems to be to render the whole frame out and cut into five strips using mattes – to make sure the mattes fit use alternate black and white stripes – changing from black to white on matte seleotion as required and masking matte source accordingly ( use same matte to make background for comp )

    Hi –

    – you can also select ‘ appears in reflections only’ in the ray trace properties drop down menu – ( just make sure your precomp is set up to enable this if you need it ).

This can be very useful as you can use moving footage as well and also more than one layer thus having the option for very complex reflections.

Also using this you can get loads of fine detail if you are close up to the logo / lettering — ( its worth playing around with the position of the reflection layers quite a lot ) .

It might also be worth noting also that this kind of comp is a lot easier if your kit is either very powerful or has multiple graphics cards.

    All the best

    Hi Steven

——–dont forget you can build a high res video wall / use as a layer / add a curve / use a ‘wide angle lens’ on your AE camera / whatever …….. motion blurr …….

……….. and if you are using animated text as well you should be able to ‘get away’ with quite a lot — ie if its not technically correct it can still look convincing and pretty good in the edit .

    — highly recommend 3D model for the pack shot if at all possible — in my experience much better and easier — probably more cost effective as well if you know a good 3D guy………

With regard to the background tend to do stuff like this by trial and error – build video wall / bend video wall / move camera etc etc but there will be a much better and technically accurate way of achieving this which I expect others will advise you on…………

Hi — possible items if I were advising client

1 ) — can PTY LTD be moved to the bottowm / wherever along with registered office etc OR look at repositioning ( ? )

2 ) —– would experiment with adapting shape between house and lettering because it reminds me of a flame/fire – would maybe go for stripes ( lawn ) – friendly curve ( patch ) whatever /

    3 ) — and watch the spelling !!!!

    Hi Bob

Theres a few different ways of doing this – in my experience the obvious often works as good as anything else …..

I would animate a hand drawn mask and play with the feather settings…

…….you can also use the smoke layer as a matte source but its probably not worth the trouble … also sometimes its better if theres a slightly organic mismatch — its less obvious…….
