What about outputting from your premiere system into your avid system for capture?
I might actually end up doing that with the 2 edit suites I have.

That’s one reason why AJA is better.

Make sure you go into the toast options and tell it not to re-encode if you have not already.
Also, your compressor setup should have virtual clustering turned on, that can dramatically decrease the encode time.
If you compress with mpeg2 which looks just fine at blu-ray bitrates that will also reduce the encoding time.

I have read other troubles about using log & transfer and the canon plugin so I always use mpeg stream clip.
Works perfectly for me every time.

Someone here said they edit in h.264 all the time but it is single video track, cuts only.
then they use media manager to change it to pro res at the end.
they claimed it was fine to do cuts only single video track.
I didn’t take a chance on it of course, but it was intriguing to hear.
