With lossless codecs like DNxHD or ProRes you can literally
re-encode to 10 generations before seeing any problems (not that you would), so that should work.

But if it were me I would do what Ivan suggested.

I wish it would recognize if conformed files are there and NOT
ever redo them again, but if it’s doing it much quicker, that works too.

I usually get the redo if I move it to another disk array, even if
the relative path is the same.

  • as long as it’s somewhere around 4000 pixels in dimension it should
be fine. Paul’s suggestion is a good idea too, but does premiere cc
rasterize .ai files now? cs6 wouldn’t do that.

I would have scanned to .pdf then rasterized in photoshop to a 4k ish size.

cs6 didn’t like still images bigger than 4k but maybe cc can go beyond.

ha ha that would be awesome if true.

I’ll try some things out and update my edit system with bmd hardware.

    will post here Peter.

  • Hi Nick, we often get 24 frame native projects from Hollywood.

Pro-Tools session setups can vary between all the established industry frame
    rates including 23.98

there are special settings within pro-tools for adding pulldown and not having pulldown.

    we often get without.

for this reason, the DV 23.98 file has to match otherwise it will
    not import to pro-tools.

There are a lot of us that use this work flow and some day I’d like
to completely remove all my apple legacy apps, but this is one
thing that makes me need to keep them. 🙂

thanks for being pro-active on this. Really appreciate it.

Thanks for the info, but there are times that us folks require it to
show itself as 23.98 pulldown or no.

A very big community like Pro-Tools users, NEEDS this feature
for 23.98 native sessions with picture.

LOTS of us have dv boxes plugged in via firewire to our Pro Tools systems to send picture
to a monitor. The DV file must match the pro tools session.

This is important. Currently only apple compressor can do it correctly.

I’d still like AME to do it….at the very least there *should* be
an option to enable/disable the pull down to get 23.98

so I take it 7.01 multi-cam is now functioning properly?

They didn’t list AME being able to properly encode 23.98 DV codec quicktime files,
wonder if that was addressed (yes I’ve requested it both for cs6 and cc)

Mac mountain lion is nice, but would be nicer if I could export windows media
from ame like PC version. 🙂
