What do you mean by raw data? BPAV folder? MP4 files?

Does the plug-in allow you to transfer directly from the cards, or do you first have to run the Transfer tool to convert to Quicktime? Is the Kona card required for this, or is the ProRes conversion done through Quicktime?

Alex, do you just Render to ProRes or do you Export the whole program to ProRes?

Digital Juice has a blood dripping transition that is part of their Hallowe’en Swipes collection. I suppose you could change the color to whatever you want. i remember there used to be a paint dripping transition in the old Video Toaster.

One of the big problems with letting Toast do the encode is that it takes about twice as long as Compressor–about 5.5 times the length of your program. It will import your chapter stops from FCP, but the menu items will have numbers instead of names, and you can’t change them.

I’m running OS 10.4.11, MacPro, Internal SATA Drive. I was working in Final Cut, doing a long render, and the system froze-up. It wouldn’t do a Force Quit, so I manually shut the system down. When I powered-up again, the drive was gone. It’s still listed in “About My Mac” but is is not mounted.

I went with Toast, because I had heard such bad things about the Mac version of Encore and, of course, I didn’t want to buy Premiere. Perhaps I made a mistake. We’ll see.

I second the above. I have also not been able to keep Toast from re-encoding my MPEG-2 files and Roxio Support has been ignoring my e-mails.

Unfortunately, Bruce didn’t cover encoding outside of Toast in his article. I’m still trying to get this to work with MPEG-2, and Roxio is incommunicado at the moment.

Most of us only need to make one-offs for our clients-no $5000 license required. Microsoft offers this, and it certainly doesn’t add $5000 to a copy of Vista. Come-on, how long has it been since we’ve seen an upgrade to DVDSP, or even iDVD, for that matter. Like I said before, I believe Apple has lost interest in their Pro-Apps. The i-Phone is where they’ve put their resources for now.
