Andrew, I think your point was good for last year but I know a lot of people who are using Resolve (Customers) as an equipment reseller and system designer we keep a pretty close pulse on industry changes. I don’t know that many adopted it vs. Ppro or others until Resolve 15. I personally forced myself to use it and stay out of any Adobe products in my last project. I had a few moments that I got lost and had to watch a video or two, but after that I was doing well. I have not been this happy since DPS VelocityQ

The crop factor is to great for my use on the EF version, but if you are OK with that then it will work OK for you. I am opting to go with with the Minolta/Sony lenses and use an M43 adapter that has an aperture control ring. All the Sony/Minolta lenses have a manual aperture control via little arm on the back of the lens. I think I am the only person that is catching onto a Sony A99 with all the Alpha mount lenses and followed up by a M43 BMD camera when it comes out. I think this combo is great and will allow you more lens options and a wider angle of view than any other solution.

I currently have an A99, FS100 and a 60D. The 60D is not even in the ball park so I am not going to even talk about it. Selling it on Ebay. We did side by side comparison of the A99 and FS100 and found that the A99 seems to have a little better dynamic range with some tweaking and yes I have reworked my FS100 loved its dynamic range with some adjustments too. The FS100 actually had more aliasing on a chair we had in the shot and the A99 had little to none. Now if you have image stabilization or crop on the a99 the image looks like garbage and have seen some people griping about this, basically if you turn off all the setting and features you will get awesome video quality. I also did my test with a bit of a soft lens the Tokina 80-200mm f2.8 and it makes for a softer image but looks awesome. I am a dealer for BMD and will be using the BMD M43 camera when it comes out some day and think the Minolta mount is perfect with an M43 adapter that has and aperture ring. The minolta mount still has manual aperture control unlike all the others. So I am going that direction so I can have some good lenses with the a99 and BMD Cinema Camera M43 and not have duplicate lenses. I will be doing another hour or two of testing in the morning, but have sold the FS100 over the weekend and will do a final test before shipping it out. So let me know if you want me to try anything in the morning before saying goodbye to the FS100.

We have developed a way to control the aperture of the EF lens on the EX3, we are using a EOS 650 body connected remotely with a pin bridge mounted in the EF to EX3 adapter. We mounted the EOS 650 on the back of the EX3 for (IRIS) control. The problem we ran into is when the aperture lockup button was held down for two hours in a test it fried the EOS 650 camera body. This was an old thrashed camera that already had problems so we are going to try a newer body when it comes in later this week. I will let you guys know how it goes. Chip

Make sure your running the latest driver for sure, I have a couple of customers that had this same problem and updating the video card driver solved the problem. One customer was using an old video card and replacing the card solved the problem (not sure why the first card did not work). We are finding that CS4 on Vista 64bit with 8 gigs of memory or more makes a huge performance boost. After Effects can breath easier with more memory too, for about $500.00 depending on your configuration, going to 64bit + memory is not all that much of a headache and actually gives you more time at home with the family.
