Thanks for the reply man, i really appreciated it.

From what i have read demosaic is used to reduce graininess but i have never played with the settings, where do I modify it?
Im working through a 2k monitor (dell u2711 2560×1440) so I suppose if i reduce the resolution to half im not going to see much difference if the footage is set to 50% scale. Currently the jitter only gets really bad through fast pans so its still probably workable. I think the biggest thing is knowing im fully optimized and this is as good as it gets right now.

    thanks again

Hey Kevin , it’s always good to know you on the right track. Nothing worse than spending a week on something and then learning you could have done it in 10 mins and 100 times better with the correct process.

There is a lot of shelving in the locked of shots which i think could be causing the patterning you refer to. My test renders look fine so i guess it’s just a matter of pushing ahead.

    thanks for the post.

if you have modifyed an imported file and just want it to refresh in AE
Project palette – right click – reload footage
if you want to replace an imported file with another
Project palette – right click – replace footage

September 21, 2006 at 8:09 am in reply to: play specific frames of a pecomp

Hi there, Thanks very much for the cool tutorial, it gave me a some ideas for a few other things. I am looking for a more dynamic solution here though. Essentialy i would like to have specific frames play dictated by a variable like camera x position. Say if i wanted to auto orient a 3d layer towards the camera and depending on my camera x position it would play a differnt spesific frame.

For example you could render 360 differnt angles of a 3d object in maya and then play these out in after effects. 1 frame for every degree you rotate the camera, thereby simulating a 3d object(at least on one axis). Just to clarify have a look a flash site i made with this in mind. http://www.samsung.d900.co.za

I’m pretty sure I’d have to write quite an extensive expression to realise this, but i’m just nnot sure if it’s even possible.

If you can give me any direction it would be awesome.

    Thanks.

I know there is a z depth on the emiter but it had been seperated from the position attributes, so I was unable to do a straight pic whip link to the 3d layers position which contained all three values in one variable.

But I have sorted it out, I wasn’t aware you could pick whip the seperate individual variables instead of the entire position attribrute.

    Thanks though.
