    Hi Sasha

I’m not aware of the “other forum”, sorry about that!!

About the conf guide I have to say that I have seen it and the recommendations they do for cards does not include any of the cards I talking about… I suppose because they are so new on the market and that is why I’m making this question about the compatibility of both of them… If you recommend me another forum in where I can make this question it would be really appreciate it!!

    Thanks

Thanks Dave!! but it’s not what I;m looking for… these way it’s to capture before you start your edit. but I start my edit already and what I want it’s to transfer all my media to prores and keep editing the same project without losing any rough cut!!! I don’t have any tape or media store other than on my hard drive… and it’s already capture in XDCAM EX.

Actually nobody replaies me about how to do that so I’m going to keep working like that if nothing turn up… One question about to export some of my media to AF… Could I export my files to Prores before I import them to AF and then export then in XDCAM EX to put them back in my timeline? would it this minimise the problem that AF has with XDCAM EX?

    Thanks for your help

    Hi again!!

Thanks Chris for the info but as Dave said It’s possible for you to explain me how do I recapture everything again to Pro res? I did not have the media cards as we have been deleted then as we were filming, so if I need then for recapture I think that will be imposible…. isn’t it?

The other way you said is send all my files to Compresor and transcode then to Pro res… I understand that little thing but would you be able to explain me how do I reconnet the new Pro res files into my FCP without losing any rough cut I had already done in my Sequences?

I’m in the middle of the offline session so there is a lot of cuts to do still…

    Thanks for your help

    Hi Jaap

OK!! thanks for the quick response!!! but I think I’m more confused right now!!! Sorry but I don’t really understand this codec story…. The thing as I understand it is that when I’m working with certain material, like XDCAM EX… I have to get a sequence of the same material to get the best performance… It’s this true? because what you just said to me is that I have to change my sequence settings to Pro res but you did not say anything about the source material that is in XDCAM, so as far as I understand that’s mean that I’m working in my project with XDCAM EX footages isn’t it?.

Well if that’s true then I would like to know what is the story about to send it to Color or AF, Having my sequences in Pro res will mean that Im working with Pro res material?, doesn’t matter how the source is?

Please give a bit of light in my editing live!!!

    Thanks

    Hi Dave!!

Thanks so much for the quick answer!! You are totally right with multiprocessing… I had tried to and my AF just got crazy when render… Thanks for let me know as I thought that was my way of setting it up…

About the prores convertion I just have a few issues… I’m editing my project in FCP and im doing it with my sequences in XDCAM EX… always when I export any file to import it in AF I just hit export/quicktime movie/ current settings…. I suppose that with this workflow I get XDCAM EX files (correct me if I’m wrong, I’m very dummy with all this codec things). To get Pro res I have to do the same thing but just choose prores in the pop up menu (current setting menu), but I found that there is a few different pro res codec, HQ, LT, Proxi or simply nothing…. Which one should I choose?

And another question is about FCP… I don’t know if you know about FCP or I should make this question in another Forum ( let me know), well the question is that I’m in the middle of a project that I start with XDCAM EX sequence settings and all my files are XDCAM EX files… now I found that maybe it’s better to edit the project in Pro res, so I want to pass all my footages to pro res and keep the cut that I have already done…..It’s a way to convert all my files to Pro res and relink them to maintain my rough cut?

and just the last question… Sorry!!! It’s better to edit my project in pro res? if I shoot it in XDCAM EX 1080p25…or it’s fine to edit it in the XDCAM EX. I would like to grade it in Color after and make the output in Blu ray…

    Thanks for your help

    Hi Michael!!

    Thanks for the quick response!!

As I understand, Internal HDD are the best choice for me right now, but I can’t find the 1.5TB that you suggest, actually what I found is the 1TB and the 2TB… You said that there issues with the 2TB, which are they?, because as I can’t find the 1.5TB, I will go for the 2TB as I need a lot of storage.
The only 1.5TB I found is the caviar green. it’s a lot of difference between the green and the black?

    Thanks

    Hi Michael!

    Thanks for the info…

I’m still using FCS2, is any way in this software to get HDV 1080i footages into a DVDR as you said with FCS3, my short is 17 min.

If not which will be the best quality i can get into DVDR

Well!! I’m sorry for being dummy but do I need a Blue Ray burner or drive (I don’t know how it’s call) to burn a Blue Ray Disc? Cos in that’s case I don’t think I can work with Blue Ray and therefore I’m not interesting on it… This is what i have in my Mac: HL-DT-ST DVD-RW GH41N, Can I make Blue Ray with that?
If not, please… Could somebody try to tell me how to sort out my quote?

    Thanks
