  • I’ve written an e-book called EDITING REALITY, available at my website, and I’m in the formative stages of writing another one to cover what I may have missed in the first one.

Just watched that love scene. I seem to remember it being pointed somewhere for the momentary pauses that she employed. I think it was an approach to a love scene that I wonder if a man could have come up with. It really was a woman’s touch/perspective on the “love scene”.

    I’m baaaack!
The xml was in ver. 4, so the other editor gave another one using ver.1.
It loaded, however I’ve only been able to re-link the audio clips.
Even if I locate a video clip by name (even though it can find it by search) it still doesn’t re-link after I hit “connect”. Any thoughts, suggestions? Do you think I might have better luck with a ver. 2 or 3 xml? BTW, these clips are on the same drive they were sent to me on.

    Thanks,
    Chaz

    Tom,
Thanks for the recommendations. Yeah, I didn’t think it would be compatible, because who would buy a new computer if you could just change out the chip for a couple hundred bucks?

Thanks for the quick response Wayne! I’ve sent your message to the other editor. Hopefully he will not say that it was ver.4. If it was, “I’ll be back!”

Shane, I’ve been investigating this “spanned” issue, trying to locate the other missing part, but haven’t been able to. How exactly do you go about remedying this problem? I’ve tried eyeballing it, sorting the clips in numerical name order, time code order, etc. Maybe it was never xfered from the P2 card?

Thanks guys. I dont know if the camera was set to 24pA, I was only told 24p. So I’m guessing that’s why the frame rate conversion didn’t seem to help (unless I did it all wrong which is entirely possible). So what I am doing as a solution is running each clip through Compressor and applying the ProRes422 for interlace. That seems to do the trick. It’s a pain though. Is there an easier solution?

I’m no expert on this and I have no personal experience with it but it seems to me that you would a the very least need an HD monitor.

Well, the best thing you could is ask what they’d like you to do, but otherwise, I would follow the outline and only stray from it if for some reason you can’t do what they ask or it just doesn’t work or there’s some kind of problem.
But remember, it’s only a string-out so don’t stress about it too much.
