    Hey Mike,

Thanks for the reply. I have the manual and I looked at pg 88 but it doesn’t show the signal flow going out to the computer, only to the video camera. Now normally, I wouldn’t mind transfering my video from VHS to minyDV and then have to retransfer it from minyDV to my computer but I have over 8 tapes to do, so it would be doubling my time if I do it that way and not directly.

I’ve spend all day calling around different places and I think my best bet is to geta video capture card for my laptop. When I spoke with the guy at the store he said that the capture card will reduce quality so it’s not a really good idea. The one available is by Dazzle and it’s called D.V. creator. I’m gonna go on the internet and do a search about quality but whatever you guys can add about this method would be great. Thanks.

There is one more thing that I forgot to mention, it seems that if I plug in the Firewire cable it stops the video that I can see from the VCR that shows on my camcorder screen. So it seems like only one wire can be plugged in at once. I don’t know if that gives anymore usefull info. Thank.

Thanks very much for the reply. So far I’ve done all the wireing VCR-> Camera-> Computer. I’ve gone into Vegas Video (V.6) and I’ve disabed the Device Control in Capture preferences. when I’ve pressed play on the VCR and turned my camera to VCR and then pressed record mode, it only seems to record on the Video Camera tape and not pass through the firewire to my computer.

I called canon and asked about the pass through feature. They said that none of their cameras have that feature. When I did a lot of searching online it showed that some canon cameras do have that feature. But I haven’t been able to find anything about the opturea 100MC. If you or anyone else can answer my question (because the guy at the camera store couldn’t) I would really appreciate knowing if my camera is ‘pass throug-able’. If there is anything else that I can explain about what I did to make things easier let me know. Thanks again.

How about if I was using a Duel Layer DVD would it be possible then to have the same quality? How is it that real manufactured DVD’s have such high quality? Im sure there has to be a way. Any suggestions?

Is there anything else about better programs for vid editing. Or also, an easy program to quickly transfer from miniDV tape to DVD without loosing quality. Thanks

Ohh, I just saw that they now came out with Vegas 6 and DVD 3 and Movie Studio… Sorry, I have another question to add to that.

Is Vegas 6 worth it? and what was the consensus on Movie Studio? Any input is greatly appreciated. Thanks Again
