MainConcept just released MovieExport, an export plugin for Final Cut Pro, QuickTime and iMovie with a number of higher-end codecs, supporting Blu-ray Disc, XDCAM, AVC-Intra, F4V, iPod, PSP, AVCHD, DVD, etc. So it can get you a bit closer to authoring a Blu-ray Disc, although you still need to have one of the usual apps to create your menus and to do the actual burning, of course.

  • Has anyone tried MainConcept Codec Suite 5.0 for XDCAM? From the description on their web site it sounds like it will allow you to natively work with XDCAM clips on the CS5 timeline a lot more easily.

  • Hey, have you tried MainConcept Reference? I’ve been playing with it for a while and it supports pretty much any format you might need, including the biggies (H.264/AVC, MPEG-2, etc.) with presets for the most popular playback devices, e.g. iPod, PSP, Blu-ray Disc… I’ve gotten some very nice DVD-ready video out of it. Start with the free demo version at https://www.mainconcept.com/products/apps-plug-ins/reference.html and add more codecs as you need ’em.
