    Julian,

I use 2 Panasonic 16gb SDHC cards and 2 RiData 16gb SDHC cards in our 700s cameras. Both have consistenttly performed without any problems.

    Shannon,

Holler when you take delivery of your 700 cams. I’m really pleased with ours, but be sure to read my post dated Nov. 9th regarding Steadicam before you proceed on that portion.

    Kind regards,

    Hi Marcello,

One of my two JVC 700s is from the first lot.

Did you work with someone with JVC in the USA?

If so, would you please give me the contact info?

    Thanks,

The Steadicam Pilot was bought for the 700 but the cam is too heavy. It may be because it came with the Fujinon 17X lens which brings total weight to #10 11.5 oz. and the Pilot won’t balance. We removed the Anton Bauer cam batt which weighs #1 11.8 oz and ran the 700 from the Pilot monitor batt but it’s still too heavy.

(Steadicam doesn’t loan, demo or buy back rigs, so if you know anyone . . . ) We also have the older JVC GY-HD100 camera which the Steadicam applications guide says is the top limit for the Pilot. I have the 100 workable on it, but the intent was to use the Steadicam with the new 700. The issue remains unresolved, and if anyone has any advice it would be welcome.

    Thanks,

I hope it works out as well for you as it has for us. Did you happen to discuss Steadicam at all? A Pilot was bought for our 700s and doesn’t seem to be the correct model. Any thoughts based on your discussions?

    Thanks,

    Dan et al,

I guess I’m last in respondents to Dan’s original post.

I’ve never encountered any of the recording length problems, but I probably haven’t shot anything longer than 30 minutes. I use Panasonic and RiData 16GB SDHC Class 6 cards without any problems, and I can recommend the camera as a good investment.

Yes, there are some “chintzy” aspects of the cam:

    • I seperate same-day shoots to Card A and Card B. The changeover toggle switch is too small and I need a positive “click.”
    • During PB/shutting of clips on-location the navigation controls are in the way of the LCD panel (yes, of course unless you snap the LCD back into the cam).

The FCP workflow is greatly improved, and it is also my entry into tapeless production.

    Hope this helps.

Yes, I too can recommend re-purchase of the 700. We’re using two, each equipped with the FujinonTh17X5BRMU lens and performance is great.

I think its center of gravity is better than our JVC100s making handheld/cradled and on-the-shoulder shooting easier.

I shoot at 720p and the SDHC cards are economical and speed up the workflow.

Keep us posted on your purchase decision.

(Is anyone using the 700 on a Steadicam?)

    Hello Keith,

We have two 700s, one with 2 Panasonic 16GB cards and the other with 2 RiData 16GB cards. Both brands work great, but the Panasonic is way overpriced.

Please let us know how the Transcend cards perform if you choose them.

  • Does anyone know if it’s possible to “undelete” clips that were accidentally deleted from an SDHC card?

    Thank you.
