Seriously?

[nick ring] “Alex Gollner (Alex4D) had FCP 7.0.3 running on Yosemite”
I understand 7.0.3 has been running in 10.10 since very early betas. My guess is it will continue to do so until QTKit (currently deprecated) is finally disabled. At that point FCS, QT7, and anything else depending on that framework will cease to function. Anyone who uses these apps should either freeze a system now, or find alternatives. 🙂

[Mark Suszko] “how badly it breaks the older FCP7 “
FCP 7 works fine… so far anyway. 🙂 That said… Please put that old girl out of her misery. 😉

All of which FCP X can do as well as any other NLE. FWIW…

[James Ewart] “Does Match Framing/Reveal in Event Browser resurrect the entire clip of just the part of the original clip used in the project?”
I’m just guessing here, but I’d imagine it’s the whole clip, since X doesn’t do subclips or anything. Try it and see, 🙂

”Can we not have one analogy that doesn’t get undermined in this forum! ;)”
As an FCP X user, it is my fanboi duty to not only change all “legacy” editorial terminology (bins? sequences? phhht!), but also all legacy insults as well. 😉

[Andrew Kimery] “True. Though if you are trying to get someone to judge X on its actual merits it’s best not to refer to them as dinosaurs. ;)”

[Robin S. Kurz] “I’m not seeing any such “Trash folder” or any of the other behaviour you describe. In fact after trying this and that I can’t even seem to figure out what it IS in fact doing and when. Nothing I delete is in actually disappearing from within my library.”
It’s in the Library package, not in the app, and works as described.
[Robin S. Kurz] “Even deleting the master clip in the event isn’t met with a dialog box, nor is the clip in the project being subsequently deleted either as it used to. Match framing the clip in the project makes the clip reappear in the event and other oddities.”
That’s the expected behavior, X now works like 7 or Pr in that deleting a master clip in an event does not delete it from projects in which it is used. If you delete a clip from the browser, and then delete it from a project (if it’s the last instance of the clip in the Library) you will get a confirmation dialog.

I bet an examination of the web logs would show a lot of avid, apple, and blackmagicdesign.com domains too. Maybe they’re just not as fearless as the adobe folks. 😉
