Yeah, that too. It really is. I’m working in 7 now on a job and it’s painful.

Totally ready. Not perfect, but really nice, and getting better very quickly…
[Mark Suszko] can it deliver at least everything we had in 7, with regards to machine control,
Nope, though there are plenty of 3’rd party solutions to this if you need it. Blackmagic has some reall nice, inexpensive stuff
[Mark Suszko] scopes,
Yep, and again, if you for some reason need more than the stuff built in to X, BMD and others have some nice options here
[Mark Suszko] audio functionality,
Mostly there. Some people miss tracks, but I find cutting audio to be way easier in X even with the few remaining UI issues. These will go away soon…
[Mark Suszko] round-tripping to Motion and other apps,
Not yet, but I’m sure it’s on Apple’s radar
[Mark Suszko] ability to externally monitor
Done.
With FCP X, a BMD box with Media Express, a copy of X2Pro, a copy of EDL-X you’re pretty much set. And for not much $$. About 1/2 what FCS cost, minus the BMD box, which you’d need even with 7 for monitoring.

[Jeremy Garchow] “Aren’t we in the very forum you seek?”
Perhaps we should just have a forum named “Or Not”

[craig slattery] “Those directors are now asking me for recommendations of editors proficient in X, sadly that pool is very small.”
Please forward any such requests to Aindreas. 🙂

[Neil Goodman] “The timeline is not my cup of tea and the only thing i can see the magnetic timeline usefull for is maybe reaaranging the order of large chunks of a piece, like full scenes in a short or something.”
Well, FWIW, it’s quite useful for moving tiny chunks of of a piece, like in a tv spot/trailer montage as well. 🙂 I find rough cutting as connected clips, and then slamming chunks down to the primary for fine tuning to be a really flexible and fast way to cut. X isn’t perfect but, now that I’m at the point where i don’t have to think about how it works, it’s really a pleasure to use.

See Michael’s comment. Non-issue.

[David Mathis] “A few simple things I would like to see in the next version or update:
1. Being able to save different versions of the same project
Not sure what you mean here, I do this all day.
[David Mathis] 2. Send to Motion to make for more efficient workflow
Agreed
[David Mathis] 3. The ability to key frame color correction
Agreed
[David Mathis] 4. Make Final Cut Pro X more competitive with Smoke or Premiere Pro
It is, as pointed out earlier, better in some ways, not as good in others, but certainly competitive IMHO
[David Mathis] 5. Option to have trackless or fixed track worfklow
Better use of Roles for visual Organization would be great, and I think it’s on Apple’s radar. But fixed tracks? No thanks. Using a combo of the evolving audio channel editing and broken out connected clips as needed has been working really well for me. And I cut with a lot of “tracks”.
[David Mathis] 6. Make it easier to copy one or more clips from one timeline to another.”
How could it be any easier than “copy, switch timelines, paste”? Or are you trying to do something different than that?

[James Culbertson] “I have not seen much mention of 3rd party AU audio plugins in FCPX”
Not sure about the specific PI you’re interested in, but I installed a focusrite audio I/O on my system to use with my DAW’s, and all the AU plugins that came with it showed up in FCP X, (and 7 etc) so maybe it’ll work?
