I think there are still too many folks trying to “justify” using X. I sometimes fall into that trap as well. But really, save for a few “niche” functions (some of which I need in my niche BTW) which have external solutions or are still WIP’s, X seriously kicks ass. Other than just plain not liking the timeline, there’s no technical reason that can’t be fairly easily overcome not to use it. Also, it’s fun. 😉

Actually, I’m the poor soul. Due to the fact that others are on 7, I still have to work in it now and again. I mean, it’s a fine NLE but uh… “once you’ve seen Paree” etc… :-/

Same here. Non-issue. Our GFX guy uses AE and C4D and will continue to do so. In the meantime, the “temp” GFX I can whip up in X or Motion are often as good as what he’d do anyway, which frees him up to do stuff for the poor souls still stuck in 7 here…

Correct. If you have FCP 7 and/or a broadcast monitor box (AJA,BMD etc), you likely have all the tools you need.

As Keith points out, AJA, BMD, or FCP 7 (we use that) for Capture/Layoff. You can do Blu-Ray from X, though the menus are fairly spartan. You can upload to YouTube or Vimeo from the app… to go to a server it’s just like anything else, export the cut as whatever you want and upload it.
