My issue was resolved when I installed the application on the C drive. I was trying to install on another drive. Cinescore must have a hard coded path to the C drive somewhere.

My problem was solved when I installed Cinescore on the C drive. Any deviation from the predetermined installation script may cause it not to work.

I see from your post that you also have installed the app on your C drive. If you tried to customize the installation in any way, you may want to try yet again and let it go it’s own way.

FYI:

I run Vegas on a 1.8 GHz dual core laptop with 2 GB RAM. Sure, there are times where I wish I had a quad core with more memory, but never have I had the machine lock up.

If your cpu is a P4 or earlier and not dual core, that could be a problem, and of course, the more memory the better.

That’s the down side of using a laptop, and I live within that boundary 🙂

It shouldn’t matter, but that’s not important.
The first hint was when I installed the software from the downloads. If you specify D as the location for the setup software, it fails to execute at all.

I was waiting to bother with the entire sequence again until Sony suggested it.

Vegas and DVD Architect ran perfectly on D, and they continue to do so. The plugin directory must be on C.

All of my other software runs perfectly where ever I install it. There have been installations where I am not given a choice, and it goes on C because the developers either want it there or neglected to give me a choice for some reason.

There isn’t any reason why it should not run where I put it except that there is a fully qualified path to the C drive somewhere. Heaven forbid I install it other than C:\Program Files\Sony\…

The sky might fall.

But, reality rules the day.

I uninstalled and reinstalled the software. In addition to the standard uninstall, you have to manually delete the Sony folders on your hard drive and delete the Sony registry entries:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Sony Media Software
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Sony Creative Software

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Sony Media Software
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Sony Creative Software

This is what I found:

1) Vegas executes properly on either the C or D partition of my primary drive.
2) DVD Architect executes properly on either the C or D partition of my primary drive.
3) Cinescore Studio executes properly only if the plugins folder is on the C partition of my primary drive.

It would appear that the Sonly developers have a hard coded path to the C: drive somewhere in the Cinescore plugin.

I consider this issue closed. Thanks to all who responded to the call.

Update

Sony Tech Support advises me to rip all references to Sony from my machine, create a new admin user, restart with only MS services running, and reinstall.

Done that. Doesn’t help.

Good thing I didn’t order the $15 Cinescore theme CD, eh?

The support people try, but it is clear that part of the responses are canned. I expect them to throw in the towel now with the last response.

If your software still does not work correctly at this point, it is possible that this problem is related to your system and it might be above our ability to assist. In this situation, we would recommend contacting the computer manufacturer or distributor for further support.

Like Dell would know what Sony was up to.

I have Vegas Movie Studio Platinum Version 9.0b (Build 92) and
Sony DVD Architect Studio Version 4.5d (Build 107). This bundle comes with Cinescore Studio 1.0a, which is the plugin only.

That’s the part that doesn’t work. I did try the full (trial) version of Cinescore with the same results.

It isn’t that your suggestion is off base, but everything except Cinescore works and plays well together. Without knowing which dll, registry entry or other area of conflict is the culprit, I can only, at random, begin to uninstall software until I get down to just the OS and Sony.

It would just be quicker to reformat and start over. If no other solution is forthcoming, I’ll install the Sony products first the next time that opportunity comes up.

With any luck, that will be a while.

Thanks, but I don’t have the luxury of dedicating one computer to one task. This machine serves me for a variety of uses. The Cinescore plug in is the only conflict I have.
