Thanks Craig…You’ve been incredibly helpful and I should have realized the 60i…30i thing was interchangeable wordage.

I have another question and forgive me if I am just missing something obvious but I want to get the workflow using CalibratedQ straight in my mind.

So..I shoot in my 1080/60i format….I send those BPAV/mp4 files created by the camera to the editors as I normally do…usually on a small portable hardrive (backed up of course)

They then download the CalibratedQ codec to suit whatever version of FCP they are working on and whatever operating system they have…

Do they then have to ‘convert’ my EX files using CalibratedQ decoder and then ‘import’ to fcp? or does the CalibratedQ decoder somehow make FCP ‘see’ the files and allow them to be imported directly without conversion?

And a question about Clipbrowser v 2.6. I bought my EX in the UK initially…it obviously came with the original Clipbrowser software…I’ve always wondered what is the best way to keep up to date with the clipbrowsers….i.e. which Sony site is the best one to use? Also….does it mean I downloaded some kind of demo version if I get a warning about a ‘watermark’ appearing when exporting using certain formats?

Another quick question. I had a look at the software link. Looks like it may be the answer. But want to be sure I shoot in the correct format.
Normally I am shooting in the 1080/60i format for these people. As far as I can tell the Creative Q only lists 1080 30i…
Will it handle the 1080/60i or is there another format I should shoot in so they can use this Codec?

Don ..Many thanks for this. Very much appreciated. It could well be the solution I need to get me through this. I will pass this information on immediately.
So you think this would be an easier solution than me converting the files to something FCP ingestible?
I think sending the raw BPAV files is the way to go and it certainly speeds up the workflow process from my end. I’ve always done that for people who wanted to cut in HD…. I didn’t realize what a pain it was for Non-Vegas users.
Re. Avid….whats the latest there? As I mentioned with my earlier post …I had Avid Express Pro for a while…and even though I couldn’t edit in full HD…I was able to edit in HDV…so I simply converted material using the clipbrowser to MXF for NLE..and imported to Avid fine.
Have been working with another group who has one of the later Media Composers. And they have been complaining about not being able to use my BPAV files easily. If I just use Clipbrowser 2.5V which I have…and convert to MXF for NLE…shouldn’t those files do the trick?
