Dave, I have to ask… Why do you always have to make things more complicated for people struggling to grasp a concept, much less be patronizing and belittling about it?

    Hello. Thanks for the post.

The composition in AE and the Mocha project are built around the same clip, so they should be the exact same settings.

I’m uploading the results, though there’s not a lot you’re going to learn from it. Basically, it didn’t track right. At all.

    Here’s what I’m doing:

    In Mocha

    – Follow tutorial and track surface in middle of clip before and after.
    – Copy tracking data

    AE

    – Import video
    – Create comp sequence from video
    – Add text in middle of video where I’d like it to sit at that point
    – Add null layer
    – Paste tracking info to null
    – parent text to null
    – get wacky tracking that in no way resembles what came out of Mocha

So, presumably, I’m doing something wrong on the AE side. I’m taking that process from another video, since the original video is trying to sell a different plugin.

What I am trying to achieve is pretty basic: the sample Kubo posted is exactly what I’m looking for. However, when I try it, it simply doesn’t work. I tried John’s tutorial (granted, without the plugin the guy was trying to push in that video), and when I paste the tracking info to the null in AE, it just doesn’t work. The tracking is entirely wrong: the text is on screen the whole time, it’s inaccurate, it increases in size halfway through…

The tutorial makes it seem so simple, but it just doesn’t seem to work for me.

“But try that first,.and if it doesn’t work,.just make two track,…and “linked” them in AE.”

I appreciate your input, your sample looks great. I don’t take your meaning on two tracks and linking them, maybe you could explain? Thank you!

Thanks, but as I said, all my other programs display it properly.

It’s a birthday party and some performances that were done at the party.

So, one most of the videos are dancing, either on the part of professionals or the people at the party. They range from 3 minutes to a little under 15.

I’ve watched all of the videos, and thus far, one lags a little in a few places, and one just completely freezes at the end (though the audio plays properly).
