I like the idea of matching project settings to render settings. I will try that, but what if I’m using multiple types of source files. Canon 24p and canon 30p. What’s the best option then?

Vegas is all that crashes. Project is an HDV 30p for the Internet using progressive scan. I am rendering to mpeg 2. I tried moving the files to my c: with no change. It never crashes when my source files are .mov. It only has a hard time with canon’s .mvi files at 1080 (24p)

you have been super helpful…just one more question (i think). i noticed on sony’s website regarding system requirements for vegas platinum 9, they recommend a processor rated at 2.8 for running HDV AVCHD. call me an idiot, but that clearly says to me that my HP with an i7 intel that’s rated @ 1.60 won’t handle my HD clips..right????

windows 7, 64 bit was pre-installed on my new HP laptop. i downloaded an ASIO driver from ASIOforall.com, followed the pdf file for instructions on use (i think??), and it goes into a ‘not responding’ state every time i load in a project and try to playback and/or render down. i am not using an external sound card, have no antivirus active, or any other programs loaded onto the computer as of yet. i am at a loss, especially since i use to be able to use this same program (vegas platinum 9) of an old Dell w/ only 2G of ram and had no issues at all.

have you had success running vegas since installing windows 7? i just began running 7 a few days ago on a new laptop, and my vegas 9.0b (build 92) keeps crashing even after installing an ASIO driver. I am running the new i7 processor, 4G of ram and I still can’t figure this out. I am new to this forum, but any help would be much appreciated.
