Well at least I got a response outta you this time Bob 🙂
And I prompted some of your classic Zelin-esque anger towards the stupidity of people and some of their posts like the ones I described (non of those examples were of my own stupidity -my stupidity lies in other areas).
Flying across the country to beat people’s asses, the lore of the unpowered monitor displaying black…
    I love it.

    Got ya Ron.
Thanks for the response. I understand what you’re saying.

I’ll keep reading, learning, posting, and appreciating this community that you and so many others diligently preserve.

Ok. I guess my idea was partially in response to your post about trying to get the newbie type posts out of the FCP pro forum and into the FCP Basic forum. I post in the SRW5500 forum, but there isn’t a DVW75, etc. forum. It was merely a suggestion.

[Rafael Amador] “Please don’t come to tell me what Betacam is about.”

Like I said, I’m working with fellow engineers who actually have more experience than you. 22 years for you? Great. Your MiniDV camera makes better pictures than my old BVW-507? Cool.

Rafael, I understand and respect that you are a forum leader here.
I can’t understand what you’re conveying at times due to a language barrier or perhaps a lack of competence on your part. I work with former Sony Engineers every day. One of them is by boss. My suggestion to you would be that you don’t talk about broadcast television in the United States if you don’t have experience in it – at least in current times….You deal with Laos broadcast specifications. We’ll deal with SMPTE specifications in the U.S.
    Edit on…

[Rafael Amador] “Don’t look down on the COMPOSITE video.
The video composite that you get out of your BetaCam is really crappy (Down Color: Betacam SP never have been Broadcast) but what you get out of a camera or a 1″C desk is a different story.
Even going to digital, you don’t gonna get in a DigiBeta the quality that you get in a 1’C or B” machine recording Composite analog.
The big advantage of Component over Composite is only that you don’t need to separate the components for post-production. This doesn’t means more quality.”

What? “Betacam SP never been broadcast?” Still is every day in the United States. Component video’s only superiority over composite video is in post-production? The separation of of the video’s luminance and chrominance information in component video doesn’t mean more quality, even on output? Shall I do a side by side? Am I time traveling backwards? I guess I’m going to pull the 10 miles of SDI and component cables out of my facility to make more room for more existing composite cables.

What? Universities these days are teaching kids in FCP? I thought they all still force fed Avid…15 iMac (or are they Mac mini’s) editing suites in a “lab?” Get outta here! Do you go to the University of Dubai?
You know, you could buy a new MacPro for $2700, save the other $20,000 per year in tuition, stay home, and learn things that the school doesn’t want you to know…Or, you could graduate from the University, get promoted to intern or hopefully freelancer and live on bread and water for 10 years…

Did you read our responses to your last post with this problem and try all the things that were mentioned?

    Tim,
I’m glad and surprised that you’re happy with your Blackmagic downconvert. It seems you’ve never seen a hardware downconversion by AJA Kona or Teranex.
Blackmagic downconverts are horrible! I’ve seen better downconverts using Compressor than Blackmagic’s hardware.
