Hi Phil,
I’m editing files from a Sony EX1 camera in their native MP4 format, I would normally convert the files using Sony clip browser to MXF, but I’ve had problems with the stability of VP10 using a large quantity of these, with the software crashing out etc.. I did report it to Sony, had to go back to editing my projects in previous versions of Vegas as they work wonderfully with the MXF files, I’ve owned VP10 since release but haven’t used it much due to them issues

Hi John,
I did another test at 8,000,000, it was still the same 🙁 I’ll have another go and try an even lower setting,
It’s very frustrating not knowing how to address this issue, it’s even more anoying to see that it’s happening in both my 32 & 64bit versions of VP10, I’m at a total loss here, have no idea what to try next, never had this happen in the past with VP8 or 9 even when rendering out higher bit rates like 9,800,000.
Any other ideas?

Hi John,
I did use a DVD Architect template, i’m in the UK so i’m using Pal Widescreen template, i’ve tried the following bit rate settings:
Variable rate – Max 9,800,00 Avg 6,000,000, Min 192,00
Have also tried at the default setting with Max set at 9,500,00 – footage didn’t look as clean but the glitches were still there anyway

Using the RAM preview (Shift+B) on my project only managed to let me preview a few seconds of my project, when I try to Dynamic RAM preview a larger selection the process stops (?)
I’ve got 12 gigs of RAM, and the Max available in my vegas preferences is 11255mb, I increased the default setting to almost half my RAM available to see if it would make a difference, only managed to give me about 38secs of full preview, the project is only 5mins long.
This doesn’t have any affect on my rendering anyway does it?
What could be causing my issues?
My System Specs:
Windows 7 Pro 64bit
CPU i7 X980 3.33GHz
RAM 12 GB
NVIDIA Quadro FX 3800
Sony Vegas Pro 10e (build 738) 64bit -
Hi john,
Thanks for answering, I appreciate your expertises in helping solve my issue, it’s on the clip I did burn a test dvd, funny it’s only happening when I render out to an MPEG2 file, I rendered out to an MP4 file for vimeo and that was fine, but I can’t render out a decent file for DVD, I’ve never had anything like this happen before on previous versions of vegas, I even copied the timeline into a new fresh project in vegas but still no luck with my finished renders? puzzled (?)

January 14, 2011 at 12:07 pm in reply to: Sony Vegas 10 Pro + Magic Bullet or ColoristaI just got this message direct from Red Giant software via twitter,
Red Giant Software:
Unfortunately we won’t be developing or updating anything for Vegas. We can’t justify the dev costs when almost no vegas user buy.I replied saying that id buy it twice over,
Red Giant Software:
We hear you, but we just can’t justify the time and huge cost of development for the handful of Vegas users who actually buySo there you have it folks, it ain’t happening, there’s not enough demand out there, either that or there’s too many of you dishonest folk using cracks, i’m now learning CS5 and have purchased both mbl and mojo for this, vegas users need to bombard Red Giant with emails to show there’s a demand for it, I would like to see that happen as I love the simplicity and speed of cutting in vegas.
Don’t sit around hoping for Red Giant to do something, you all need to make yourselves heard, they need to see there’s a demand for it.
