Rolf, appreciate your response and I made sure now I have the latest version and will try again. If I’m not successful I’ll email you the XML.

I also appreciate your problems with the idiosynchracies of different handling of XML between apps. And yes FCP and CatDV are made for different purposes and therefor I do not expect CatDV to understand all the effects and extras that are part of the FCP XML. I just think naively that a XML has a tag for the media description and software like CatDV just extracts this tag and ignores the rest. But I’m sure it’s not that easy 🙂

I’m always doing a bit of trial and error but as I understand that what the offset track option is for.

Set an in-point (composition in-point not match move) on the last frame where you have a particular tracker point still in frame. Now check the offset track option and reposition the tracker point to somewhere in the frame that stays longer visible and moves in the same way your picture frame moves (eg continue the top trackers by position to the bottom of picture frame) and track (you can do this for all points separately by unchecking the ones you don’t want to track. Motion will now create points continuing you original track by using your new position as a reference.

If I’m wrong please somebody correct me 🙂

always love (and it seems to be getting the norm) when the post include ‘because it’s made for professionals’ implying whatever I suggested was amateurish stuff.

I know all the bits about the Cache-A system but if I can save about $6000 (last time I checked, might have changed) and still get professional archiving of my media/data I sure pay attention.

Hmm. I opened (in dumbster) a QT ProRes file I captured from using FCP7.

Sorry I think this is beyond my knowledge. Hope somebody else can help.

Just tested dumbster because I didn’t know it and I do not have half the info in my ProRes files you have. And certainly no Aperture info.

Maybe you could describe how you create those QT ProRes files.

Alternatively have a look at CatDV. Might (or might not) be able to help 🙂

We worked out that by using Re-analyze media CatDV did update the incorrect audio track listing and than the XML export worked again.
If the Re-ananlyze doesn’t work on a sub clip try to select ‘undo’ straight after and see if the clips are corrected.

Bit cumbersome but this worked for me 🙂

Unfortunately found a little bug which I already reported to CatDV

When importing those clips to FCP via XML (either drag and drop within CatDV or export – import xml file)
they create corrupted clips in FCP
Length of each sub clip is the whole QT file length.
Each sub clip has the correct part at the head
Audio is only on track 1 (probably due to the fact that the original capture was stereo and the second one 2x mono, it’s fine in CatDV though)

I’m sure they’ll come up with a fix 🙂
