    Hi Maurice –

re: one hidden secret of the mx-50 and probaly the mx-20 too that you can genlock this mixer with the external key input making it easy to cut between camera’s

that has been a HUGE issue for me – 2 cameras – works like a champ – 3? its choppy and messy.

would you mind posting a step-by-step setup?

    thanks in advance –

yes, right now everything is composite except the cameras.

camera out > backstage monitors BNC=BNC

backstage monitors to switcher BNC > composite
Switcher is either a Videonics MX Pro or a Panasonic WJ MX-20

(before you laugh, you try and stay in business on tight budgets in tough economic times)

    switcher out to DA BNC=BNC

    DA to screens/webcast BNC=BNC

Just trying to pump up the quality without breaking the bank…

    any further suggestions?

$3,000 is out of my price range right now – we found and Evertz for less.

We used this to run a multi-camera live switched signal 800 feet at an outdoor event. Works great!

on ebay you can find what are called video distribution amps (Extron is a good company) for around $10.

Using BNC cable (you may need an adapter for your camera), connect your camera OUT to the IN on the distribution amp.

Then using more BNC, connect the OUTS on the distribution amp to each TV monitor.

The most expensive part will be the BNC cable. All the BNC adapters can be gotten VERY cheaply on ebay, pennies on the dollar.

    Hope that heps

you can talk them into running it for ONE day!

Here in MI, our clients buy small ad runs and small airtime runs for programming as well – whoever you are talking to is just trying to lock YOU in so they don’t have to chase down another prospect.

Its YOUR money don’t let them push you around – tell them you are buying X number of spots at X dollars, take it or leave it. If they say leave it, talk to another sales rep.
Someone there will be hungry enough to do this.

Thanks! I’ll play around with it on my next few projects and let you know how it went.

    Hi Rob –

    Wow! great response!

    Answers:
    Studio projects C-1
Professional announcer with a very rich baritone sound with getting too Barry White.
mic to a Behringer board, Board out to sound card input.

I looked for the Compander preset, but couldn’t find it even after using the Help/search options.

I may need a real baby steps guide, since your suggestions of “attack” and “release” are pretty much Greek to me…
