    thanks for the quick response!
well when i deal with just the graphics doing render previews work as it should for my system. i have a power pc g5 with 4 gb of ram. however if i add the video to the comp to be able to work from that render times go ro about 1-2 seconds per frame!. the graphics i’m adding are not that complex just simple text layers with animating position, scale, etc.

  • a million thanks kevin..

    cheers!

ok figured it out. use the invert filter found in the channels folder. for some reason the reverse alpha action don’t seem to do anything. anyways, this worked so hopefully it will help

  • hmm still not working… ok so, the matte footage is not stright up alpha hard black and hard white… there’s some gray tones.. im assuming for opacity since part of the graphic has lowers opacity levels to show what the background is through the graphic. it is also animated and the background is white! where on the fill the background is black!

  • hey jamie,
    thanks for the quick reply!
it works kind of… i can see the “background layer” or the footage wherever i want the graphics to sit… through the graphic.. in other words, i can see the background layer through the graphic since the opacity level on the alpha channel is low… however i still see the black all around it!

thanks again for all your help!

thanks! ok so how about this. i have all my after effects stuff in final cut. i nested it all in an ntsc sequence… im monitoring througha proper ntsc monitor from my blackmagic card and it all looks great… its letterboxed but the graphics look how they should. there’s a checkered background and the squares look well.. like squares.. so what im seeing on the reference montior is ok by me… what settings should i use in final cut, compressor and dvd studio pro to make this look like im seeing in my monitor! thank you so much for all your help!
