And can you review those (rendered) motion effects from a Premiere sequence at CatDV?
I can drag the standalone Ram files into catdv and that is pretty cool, but I’d like to be able to review the whole video/sequence they are part of.
I guess it should not be possible.. unless you replace the After Effects compositions by the render mov files in the premire sequence? is it possible? -
I see, that is what I initially thought. We naivly believed that it could be possible to use CDV in order to review and aprrove videos with animated effects without them to be exported. Thank you! 🙂

Hi Bryson
You’re totally right. I sent it to our IT team to map all our user fields and hope it now works. I do not have access to web server, that is why sometimes my questions are obvious for you guys.

I do have my own clip status fields (i.e. Send to Ruth/ Send to X/ Approved, etc), but can’t see them on Web Client and, therefore, we can’t use this incredible CatDV functionality.
What I understand from what you say is that this has to be fix from Worker Node, isnt it? I would like to be able to search by Clip Status.
Thank you Bryan

Hi Dougal,
What I have tried is to export FCPX XML and import FCPX XML into Cat DV, but it says it’s got too many tracks.
On the other hand,FCPX is not working with sequences but with the so-called ‘projects’, which are kind of database-based (or something similar :)), so, how is that possible that I import a ‘sequence’ into CatDV? I have no idea sorry :/
Thank you for help,

Hi,
Just to tell you that it is finally working. The reason of what was going on is the following:
We have been working with external drives until we got a shared server, so all the past archive was located within individual root letters folders (such as L:, J: etc) instead of UNC. Now I am reordering the proxies manually to the Proxies root while deleting the Letter folder. Then, relocating originals from CATDV client and it automatically reads proxy location.
Thank you all for the tips!

Dear all,
I’m just reopening this old thread since it explains exactly what I am going through right now. Any ideas?
Many thanks

[John Vaudin] “If the server can’t find an appropriate proxy then the Web Client will not show the player control – it will just show the poster image.
If you double click on the CatDV Logo at the top left of the Web Client it will dump some diagnostic information including where it is looking for the proxies and if it can read the directory.”
Thank you for the information. It seems it is pointing to our server, but good to know that about player control. I will check it again just in case.

Hi,
“Playback issues are almost always caused by missing web proxies or path mappings not set up to point to them. You will need to create appropriate proxy media, which means low-ish bandwidth and Fast Start (for QuickTime) or Streaming for H.264. You also need to set up path mappings in the Server Control Panel to point to them”
1. We have web proxies. The problem is there is not a visible player on the screen.“Querying on user fields is not supported in 6.8 but will be supported in 6.9 which has just started beta testing.”
2. Ok, then we stay with 6.7. and will upgrade directly to 6.9 when launched.“The Web Client can use custom details panels, but it is an optional feature referred to as “Customisable UI”. Also check the settings in Web Client tab of the Server Config screen in the Control Panel to control where it picks up the panel definitions from.”
3. We doublechecked it before but customisable UI was not available, and so we thought we might need an upgrade of the server to 6.7b3 or further.
