Having worked with this camera for 1.5 years, I have never been able to use an internal with external mic. I can use two externals or the internal. I’ve had many a sound man and cam op say it has to be possible – then they’ve all spent 20 minutes playing with the settings and no luck. I use a wireless and a shotgun in tandem and the coverage is awesome. Hope this helps. Best of luck. Kind Regards, Chris K.

    Is this true ??

That’s the deal Laura. I’ve tried every possible method to record as you described with my Z1 with no luck. We now use a wireless and a short shotgun. Also note that if you set your input to XLR and plug in to channel 2 ONLY you won’t get anything (odd…I know). Start with Chan 1. Good Luck, CH

Great tip David! Will this send display info through AV cable without going to tape? In other words, can I monitor TC,audio levels etc while shooting and still get a clean record? Thanks,CH

[Dave LaRonde] “I’m sure you have. I’m sure that the Z1 is a marvelous camera for many applications. Except certain ones. I doubt that you’ve tried to do a film-out or burn a 24pDVD using your fine-looking Z1 footage. To do that, you need to remove the pulldown before the editing process begins, and, well, you just can’t do that with Z1 footage.”

Fair enough! The Z1 centainly has it’s uses.It just doesn’t give you what you need. Cheers! CH

Hi Chris.I make BITC (burned in time code) dubs from my Z1U all the time. I don’t have the camera in front of me but I’m pretty sure it’s in the display settings in the menu. Of course you will have to be in VCR mode. I’m not sure what the cineframe fuss is all about.
    1) It wasn’t even part of your question
    2) I’ve shot and posted plenty of great looking footage using the cineframe profile

    Good Luck! CH

Beyer has no parts and no suggestions. I’m a bit surprised. Quality mics that are well cared for last a long, long time (of course that means that you shouldn’t need parts). Anyone have any other ideas?

I’ve had great luck exporting (and then importing) a pict for each slide. You will have to verify that all text fits in title-safe. Easy process but it may be slower (on some slides) than recreating. Good Luck

    Hi Nick.
Not sure if this is what you are asking but…apple-a (select all) of your batch then choose your destination. It will apply to all that you selected. Hope that helps.
