Yes, I know this, ok, I’ll be more specific. IN A 24P ADVANCED SEQUENCE, how does the sequence know what frames to drop? Are the flags all in the source media? If I link a 29.97 EDL to 24 (23.98) advanced media, what will happen? Is there a necessary flag in the EDL to deal with this, or is it all dependent on the mdeia. I exported an EDL from a 24P advanced sequence and it looked like a regular 29.97 EDL. At that point, I was a bit confused since if you play the sequence it is skipping every 5th frame. How does it know to do this? Anyone care to straighten me out? 🙂

…it’s because the dual 2.0 I had was NOT PCI-X. If you get the right machine, it should work fine. Best of luck.

  • Actually I answered my own question last night when I figured out how to tell if a machine is PCI-X or not. YES I’ve done my research, but I was misled by my dealer, as the dual 2.0GHz machine they loaned me to test is NOT PCI-X, thus my problems. I am going to seek out dual 2.0GHz machine WITH PCI-X for my project. Thanks.

I did it on a dual 2.0 and a dual 2.7 to the internal drive using a Decklink HD. Works fine. Playback through SDI on the dual 2.0 didn’t work too well though. The dual 2.7 was flawless.
