Cheapest (i.e.slowest machine) for reliable Decklink HD Work?
I am building a system with 6 XLH1s and 6 G5s for recording DVCPROHD via SDI. I tested out a dual 2.0 G5 with a Decklink HD and it would digitize DVCPROHD fine from the camera’s SDI out, but the SDI output from the Decklink was not working. I put the same exact setup in a dual 2.7 and it worked perfectly. What machines will work with this card reliably? Pleae give me exact speeds and model numbers, I keep getting the PCI-X runaround. I need to build these systems quickly, and I would rather not spend top dollar for an already obsolete dual 2.7 when there are dual 2.0s for $1000 less that should work for me. Keep in mind I need to buy 6 of these, so every dollar I save is multiplied x6. I was hoping to use these as edit systems when not at shoots, but if they are that close to being on the edge, it makes me nervous. I had the card in slot 4 by itself BTW. Any advice much appreciated. Thanks.

A powermac G5 with A PCI-x Interface is supported by BM and is the basic requirement.
it has been well documented on this forum and BM Website, have you done any search on any
of these web sites ?[CapturedLive] “I keep getting the PCI-X runaround.”
It’s not a runaround simply a basic requirement period!So look around for G5 Dual 2GHz with 8 ram slots and you’ll know they have the Pci-x
needed for the BM card to operate.Regards

Actually I answered my own question last night when I figured out how to tell if a machine is PCI-X or not. YES I’ve done my research, but I was misled by my dealer, as the dual 2.0GHz machine they loaned me to test is NOT PCI-X, thus my problems. I am going to seek out dual 2.0GHz machine WITH PCI-X for my project. Thanks.

I have dual 2.0 with PCI-X and I do not get video out from SDI when capturing to DVCPRO HD
So I would try 2.5 maybe?-Kaspar

Wow, ok, good to know. Thanks. I figured it was just the PCI speed that prevented the display, but I guess dual 2.0 is too slow.
