    Thanks.

May I go so far as to ask which Compressor Pre-Set you are using? I have a thirty second piece that requires I go to Blu Ray and I was hoping to get it all in on the 19Mbps setting. Can I also go so far as to ask what additional tweaks you are using on top of that custom preset?

We shot and edited our entire program ( A thirty minute doc) in 720P 24P – and we are looking to get the cleanest output possible.

    Walter . .

What settings are you using in Compressor when you are encoding your footage to go to Encore? Are you taking that compressed file straight to Encore then building – then burning in Toast?

I know what you are going through – and I tend to lean towards Ben’s method as well. It can seem a bit overwhelming but it gives you the best options when taking into consideration “ALL” the footage. We recently shot a music video on Super 16mm (all shot MOS)that literally had 10-12 different angles/locations/views. When I sat down to edit I first synched all the footage (the super tedious part), then started creating sequences that I could then through down on one timeline and then start peeling away from each track to determine which shot worked the best. Once I got into the flow of things it started to roll smoothly. BEst part is if you leave all those tracks on one timeline it is very easy to make changes – pull a little footage here, clip a little there, when the director or talent wants changes.

I’ve also used the multiclip feature and prefer even though it is nice I still prefer to “stack” my footage and chissle away until I get what I want.

Here is what we came up with on my latest project – directed by Dagen Merrill – featuring Kalai.

Jeremy you the man. I think I had all the steps good to go. One of the things I had to do was load/mount(/) the folder that contained the p2 data in the log and transfer window, close that out, go to the browser and then select the clips and batch capture.

Worked like butter on hot Nacho Libre toast.

    Gracias amigo.

They are sitting on a 500gb G-Raid – which is connected to the powerbook via FW800. Everytime I shoot i offload all of the contents from the cards using p2 genie and just let that info sit on the drives.

I do have the original mxf files. But how do I “mount” those files?

Wow – just ran the security update from apple 2007-01 and now when I launCH FCP 5.1.2 the screen goes black. Weird.

I’m on a powerbook g4 1.5 right now – I’ll go home and try it out on the Mac Pro to see if I am having the same issues.

    Any solutions out there?

December 14, 2006 at 9:09 pm in reply to: P2 directly into Powerbook slot?

Yes – I used to wonder why people advised me to do that then I started ejecting P2 cards from my powerbook and everything would go wacky or I would get a message saying I needed to restart. After ejecting the mounted card from your desktop you then need to go to the upper right hand side of your desktop and power off the pcmia card slot. Search this over at DV info and you will hear the same.
