It really is a simple thing to do. Here’s how.

1) Import the clip into a new iMovie project
2) Apply the desired effect
3) Export the clip (in iMovie they call it Share)
4) Select the “Full Quality” Setting
5) Go back to Final Cut and import the file

Follow these steps and you’ll get the results you wanted.
