March 14, 2009 at 9:16 pm in reply to: whats the difference between 1080i60 and 1080i50?i think the main prob has been my import settings…..i’ve spent the last 24 hours exporting to DVDSP as Mpeg2 conversions and DVPAL and others!!!!
All round Mpeg2 had an average quality (much definition lost). Qtimepro conversion to DVPAL rendered/compressed boris text to look A class super hot. Unfortunately the DVPAL export didnt do the original footage any justice. While it looked HD on my DVD burn/TV, but people in shot were pausing/jumping etc..
I cant use compressor either because it wont SUBMIT anything!!!!!!
I think my main problem may be in my import settings…..grrrrr so will have to redigitise under prores instead of HDV….and try all this again.
fingers cross this works!! Well, at least ive learned alot.
goodluck anyone moving from sd to hd (canon xha1)!!!

it is roughly 3 minutes in length! not much at all.
im so used to working in SD. this is the first time ive tried to export HD to quick time and burn to dvd.
do you think because im using iDVD this may be affecting the quality/final product? i seem to be getting artifact in the iDVD process as well!!

thank you….. i guess that means steer clear of anything in settings that relates to 24p and 60i or the above mentioned NTSC!!

going thru the same ordeal myself. someone suggested : HDV1080p24 which in my FCP i do have this option.
but can you tell me this. my canon xha1 doesnt seem to give me the option of filming at 24f.
the only frame rate options i have are 50i or 25f, which i thought are both 25fps? perhaps you could enlighten me?! what is the d ifference and where do i find 24f?
cheers!

I forgot to add in my last post this is what my xha1 is set to:
comp. output: 1080i/576i (what does the 576i mean)??
frame rate: 50i
signal: HD
image size: LW1920x1080i imported my xha1 to FCP footage under presets:
sequence: HDV 1080i 50
capture: HDV
Device control: sony HDV 1080i 50 fire wire.it all seems to go to shit in the export from FCP to quicktime.
I have tried exporting and experimenting with different settiings as quick time movie and quick time conversion. either the images jitter/or the crawling text jitters.does this help you….to help me?!
