Thanks so much for your response. It would be a very nice function for Blackmagic. But I do realize that there’s a lot going on currently with Apple. Just keep in mind that the Offline RT seems to work faster and render faster. In cases of extreme amounts of footage it’s a nice option to have for editing. I feel that in most cases DV res. is the best offline res. As for myself, I’ve found the work around from my little trusty 7 year old Sony DV to Analog Converter.

    Thanks

The reason why this problem came up was that my client digitized the material at offline RT. Which is Jpeg but at 320 x240 35% quality. It was 9 features so it was 18 hours of source material. For my work around I used my old sony converter box (which I used back on FCP 1.2.5 way back when) which has firewire to analog outputs to my Beta SP and then to the monitor.

When I dig. for offline cuts I usually use DV res. for low res. I don’t think that offline RT is that usefull now, but the Kona 3 plays out the offline RT just fine. The Decklink Extreme is playing it stretched vertically. It doesn’t seem like it would be a big deal to fix this problem???

Is there a problem with offline res playback on Decklink Extreme??? If any uses the photo Jpeg codec at 320 x 240, i.e. offline res, for editing on a regular basis I’d love to hear from you. I’m working around this issue at the moment by not using my video monitor. I guess I could hook up my sony firewire converter (old faithfull). But I’d rather be running everything thru the Decklink Extreme. Anyways, shouldn’t it play thru just like DV does? DV is being constantly being resized to play out at 720 x 486 thru the card.

At this point I’ve tried all these easy setups.
BM NTSC-8BIT – seems to work the best but picture stretched top and bottom.
BM NTSC-10BIT – same as 8bit but hue color 180 degrees off
    BM NTSC-offline – doesn’t have video output
    BM NTSC-JPEG – same as 8bit
OFFLINE RT – video output thru firewire not the card

I have a custom setup. Capture is set at offline res. But playback is set for blackmagic 8 bit. I did try changing my easy setup to offline rt ntsc, but that gives me video playback thru firewire. I’m trying to get the offline res to playback full screen thru the blackmagic card. The Blackmagic offline RT easy setup doesn’t have video playback, it turns it to none.

Can you take HDV digitized footage and put into 720 x 486 10 bit NTSC 29.97 seq to create a type of pan and scan situation? Knowing that it will have to be rendered. Do the frame rates work out? Is there any type of flicker?
