Well, it seems to be working fine now. Only thing I did was go make a coffee. No restart or anything.

But, before that there was no error, or warning. I tried the user login that I usually use, then the guest, then a new one. All caused it to quit.

It seems to be working now. I’ll report back when I know.

    Thanks Lee and Sascha

*sigh* so many numbers. =) Thanks for the help.

So, for that GTX570 HD 2560MB that I posted the link too above, I found a display port adapter that will let me use the Apple Display. So that problem is solved….I think. As long as that’s the right card for a Mtn Lion Mac.. etc. (there are several options on Amazon Prime.)

But Sascha you’re saying I can’t use the 5770 at the same time at the GTX570 because of space and power right? (Which makes sense)
If that’s the case I think I’m ok with that. I mean I’d rather have two cards, but if just replacing the 5770 with the GTX570 will give me a significant boost, that’s great.

AND, I’m just running Resolve Lite, so it will only use one GPU anyway right? So two cards won’t help? Am I missing something?

I’m not expecting real time. I just want something faster than the 5770, and that isn’t $1000.

    I’m game for that too.

But I don’t know if I have enough room.
Also, will Resolve Lite use a 2nd card?

    Currently

    Slot 1: ATI 5770
    Slot 2: Decklink Extreme HD
    Slot 3: CalDigit RAID card
Slot 4: Esata card (I don’t really need this… much)

    Whoops.

I just noticed the 570 doesn’t have a mini Display port, so my Apple Cinema Display (with minidisplay port) would be tough to view without spending more on an adapter.

I’ll have to look into this more. … quickly. =)

Upgrading to Lion today. (crossing fingers)

Boot screen? yeah I don’t think I’d care not seeing that.
You mean boot screen for the mac when rebooting? or Resolve boot screen?

(maybe I don’t know what ‘boot screen’ means)

Awesome. I’ll make the switch then. Thanks Rohit.

I’m guessing there is a Mac and PC version of the card?
I don’t want to order the wrong one.

June 27, 2012 at 2:10 pm in reply to: Does anyone have experience rebuilding a RAID 5?

Thanks for the advice TC. We’ve worked with LaCie to try and fix it here, they have been helpful, but don’t know RAID tech like someone that deals with it. So now I’m left with these two options.

(we did get a different controller, but it didn’t work either)

And actually, this WAS the backup of another RAID 5 array that failed at the same time. We never imagined that both would have problems as the same time. (different problems, I think. we are still working on that)

Offsite would be nice. But it’s hard to afford offsite backup.
Anyway, good advice all around. We’ll tackle the revised backup when we recover from this. =)

Repaid and then rebuild it. I was typing too quickly.

    Wow. Thanks Roman =)

I understand now. And yes, having an accessible incremental backup would be great. Especially when things like this happen. (1/2 of the grade gone missing) I’m sure it’s my fault, but I’d like to time travel back to the time before I made that fault.

Thanks again. This should be added to the manual.
