February 23, 2012 at 12:16 am in reply to: Trying to add 5 seconds of black, trying to remove blank tracks from sequence start. Fix in Encore?Hi Jeff and thanks for replying. It seems that when I am confused, trying to post the problem is more difficult.
I was able to remove the leader somehow but I still had to re edit the 1 audio track levels in question.
I use Adobe Premiere Pro CS 5.5 on a IMAC 27, Intel core i5 2.7 GHz, 12 GB 1333 MHz DDR3… MAC OSX 10.6.8 I have a 2 Terabyte external drive fire wired in also.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Rich and Alex, I would like to thank you both for your suggestions and help.
I just went back into the audio track and adjusted the levels. I am glad it was only one audio track.
The question is if i were to adjust the levels with the mixer instead of key frames on the track would the levels move with the audio track?
Also, I am still working on understanding the audio tracks and how they appear. Also how to toggle them off and on. I was having a miserable time getting tracks active or inactive. I found that I had to click back on a similar clip (the same type source clip) to make associated tracks active. I would then need to click back on the clip from another source to activate those associated audio tracks. I am referring to 2 different source files from 2 different cameras.
With my old discreet logic’s edit, I could just “tab” a track and make it active or inactive and to copy was a cut/paste or drag and drop function.
If you know of any links to tutorials concerning the sound tracks I would appreciate it.

Well I did just that. The bars/tone/countdown leader is gone but now It now has about 25 seconds of black before it rolls. I’ll give it another shot.
I do thank you for your response.

February 17, 2012 at 6:45 pm in reply to: DVD directions here was Great, Trouble creating black video at start to remove bars abd tone.I did try what was suggested by you before I posted. It didn’t work. The music track moved but the levels didnt. Maybe it cant be done or its so simple I am just blind. The support materials are so poor that it’s frustrating.

February 14, 2012 at 1:48 pm in reply to: Encore did a sucessful project burn to DVD but new project won’t burn to dvd.Bala,
Thank you so much for taking the time to reply and help me out.
It is still a challenge but you have made it less of a challenge.
It worked too. I am unclear on title remote. It didn’t seem to let me set a parameter for it. I did try to set it (title button) for the source as that is all that appears in the properties window on the right side of the screen. But it states not set. I did set the main timeline to the proper setting as instructed.
So I unchecked title remote to move forward… Also, are you supposed to click the “set” button in the properties window for “Operations: All Permitted before moving forward? Because I think it required me to do so.
Sincerely,
Bruce

Tim,
Thanks for the help… I suppose that I am the FUBAR in the equation… I was using Discrete Logic’s *edit and it seems easier…
Every system requires study and practice but I haven’t found a good source book.
Any suggestions you may have on a book to buy that would help would be appreciated.
Thanks again.

I was getting the “error compiling movie when I went to render the “old job/project” on drive 1.
When I checked drive 1 it said the drive was formatted for NT so…
Here is what I have done so far.
Transferred all my video files from external drive 1 to a new external drive 2.
Restarted the computer and started a new project and imported video from the new drive 2…
Opened a new sequence and dropped video onto the time line. When I try to render the video and hit the return key to do that, it starts playing and doesn’t render. When I use the render selected work area from the file menu, it starts playing video on the timeline also. It won’t render, it plays.
I do have a yellow line in the time line window. I have selected the work area properly and set the time line parameters correctly for the original P2 video.
This system has worked properly for previous jobs I have worked on but this job is problematic.
There is some additional information in my previous posts with some of my attempts to get working.
I thought an entire new project with the info on a properly formatted drive would be the answer.
I have a multitude of clips and bins organized and described in the “old job” and I really do not want to redo all that again.
The information on drive 1 (old) was coming from the NT format drive but played and worked on the time line but would not render.
Chris, or anyone have any idea on where to go or what to do?
I was trying to re link up the original job to all the sources on the new properly formatted drive 2 and would like to know how, if possible it could be done in “batch” instead of clip by clip.
I am new to Premiere and I never thought it would be this complicated. I have worked in other editing programs (*edit)

Chris,
I transferred all the contents of the external drive to a new drive. I am trying to relink the data.
Is there a way to do it in a batch. From What I see it needs to be done a clip at a time and I know that can’t be the only way. I’m working with so many clips it would take a year.
Maybe I should reformat the original extrnal drive and transfer all the footage back to it.
Asnusual and it’s everyone’s problem, I am deadline driven and in a big mess.
I would hate to have to redo this job.
Any help is appreciated.

I’ll probably just buy an another external drive or use another drive as there isn’t the space I need internally…
I hope this is the problem… I remember when I initially got this drive I formatted it for both Mac and PC… Well, whatever I did was wrong.
Would you think all the work I have done will re “sync” itself when I reformat it?
It may all be saved internally…
